Fake examinee jailed in Sherpur

A fake examinee was given one year imprisonment for appearing at the examination on behalf of a student in HSC examination under Bangladesh Open University(BOU) at Jhenaigati BRDB center in Jhenaigati upazila of Sherpur district on Friday. The arrestee was identified as Md Sakhawat Hossain(20) son of Khurshed Alam at Khunua village in Sherpur sadar upazila of the district. Source added that Sskhswat Hossain appeared at the exam on behalf of his cousin Anowar Hossain and teachers on duty caught hold him knowing it. A mobile court led by Jhenaigati Upazila Nirbahi Officer Md Muzammel Haque sentenced to him one-year jail under public examination law section 3(1980).
Cyclist killed in road accident in Bagerhat

A middle aged bicyclist was killed when he was dashed by a speeding micro bus on Mongla-Khlna Highway in front of Chulkathi police outpost under Bagerhat Sadar Upazila on Thursday . The deceased was identified as Ferdous Tarafda (55), son of one Natek Tarafdar of village Hakimpur under Bagerhat Sadar Upazila and a small trader of Chulkathi bazar under the same Upazila. Police said that on the day the ill-fated man was going to Chulkathi bazar by a bicycle from his residence and when he was crossing Mongla-Khulna Highway at Chulkathji police outpost point the killer micro that was going from Mongla to Khulna dashed him violently from his behind and fled away. As a result, he was fatally injured. He was immediately rushed to Khulna Medical College Hospital where the doctor on duty declared him dead.
Shibir activist arrested in Fakirhat
A Shibir activist named Tarek Hossain (25) was arrested by the police of Fakirhat PS from Kathaltala Mor (turn) of Fakirhat Upazila town in Bagerhat district on Thursday morning. He is the son of one Atiar Rahman of Paikpara village within Fakirhat Sadar Union.
Anti – drug procession in Benapole

Deputy minister of sports Arif Khan Joy on Friday led an anti- drug procession at Benapole in Jessore. The procession bearing slogan ‘no to drug, yes to sports,’ paraded streets in the port town in the morning. People of all walks of life including Ashraful Alam Liton, mayor, Benapole Municipality, Shariful Alam, upazila nirbahi officer, Sharsha, took part the procession. The junior minister earlier joined two other programmes at the land port.
3 Shibir activists arrested in Gournadi

Police arrested three activists of Islami Chhatra Shibir, student front of Jamaat E Islami Bangladesh, from Adhuna village under Gournadi upazila of Barisal on early Friday. The arrested three ICS activists were identified as Nazmul Hossain Nahid, 19, son of Barek Sardar from Garangal village under Gournadi upazila of Barisal, Abdullah Al Mamun, 26, son of Abul Bashar from Sangkojkhali village under Sadar upazila of Magura, Nure Millat Jamaddar, 22, son of late Qari Abdur Rob Jamaddar from Vandaria upazila of Pirojpur district. Abul Kalam, Gournadi police station officer in charge, said the ICS activists were arrested from a secret conspiracy meeting for doing sabotage at Adhuna village of the upazila. Other participants of the meeting managed to flee from the scene. They were sent to jail on Friday afternoon after they produced before the court under a case lodged against conspiracy for sabotage and judicial magistrate rejecting their bail prayer.
AL rival vandalise AL office, two shops in Jhenidah

A faction of aggrieved AL vandalised of poura mayor’s AL office at Kaliganj upazila town on Monday night. They also vandalized two shops at the time. Sources said, on Monday night at around 8-30 pm a group of AL league activists attacked the office of Poura Mayor. He is a central juba league unit member. Mostafizur Rahman Bizu mayor of Kaliganj pourashabha told this correspondent that he along with some loyalists were holding a meeting at the office on Monday night at around 8-30 pm on the occasion of protesting bomb blast at the central juba league chairman’s resident and on four leaders death anniversary. At the time a group of AL league activists led by MP’s nephew Ashraf Ali backed by AL lawmaker Anwarul Azim Anar attacked his office and vandalized chair, table and other furniture. At the time they also blasted a bomb and vandalized a Honda motor bike. Ashraf is an AL astivist.
