Three fake DB police men arrested in Charghat

Four fake DB police men were arrested by Charghat Model thana police on Thursday evening. They were demanded toll at Aminuls Pulses Mil at Taltola under Charghat Upazila of of Rajshahi . According to sources , they were introducing themselves as DB police . The identified fake DB police are: Sharif Uddin police constable (23), son of Momotaz Uddin, Abed Ali’s son Mamun (29) village Sadopara under Bagmara Upazila and Mamun (23) village Gowroshahor , son of Akbar Ali and Kausar village Muktarpur Pakianpara son of Sirajul Islam under Charghat Upazila in Rajshahi. Meanwhile, hundreds of local people gathered in the area.
ERO launched at RU

With the oath of ‘Sammer Sandhane Amra’, a voluntary organization of Rajshahi University Equal Rights Organization (ERO) launched its first journey amid much enthusiasm and fanfare on Friday. To protect rights of ethnic minority and marginalized peoples, the organization started its journey on the campus. The programmee was held at the University’s Rabindra Bhaban at about 11:30 am. A 25 -member executive body was also formed during the programmee. Raj Kiron Das, a student of RU Mass Communication and Journalism Department and Anamika Saha Nupur, a student of RU Folklore Department was nominated as the President and General Secretary respectively during the programmee. The others nominated members are- vice presidents Zilani Ansari applied physics and electronic engineering dept , Suroty Singh Swapna of mass communication and journalism dept, assistant general secretary Shimontini Sampa of Anthropology dept, Rony Devnath of clinical Psychology Dept, Treasurer Anup Suttrodhor of clinical psychology, Publicity and Publication secretary Sajib Biswas of information science and library management dept and sports secretary Ripon Chandra Haldar of Philosophy dept. Advisors of the organization Prof Dr Biswanath Sikdar of genetic engineering and biotechnology dept, assistant professor Amirul Islam Kanak of Folklore Dept , RU Pahari Adivashi Chhatra Odhikar Songrokkhon Parishad President Dipon Chakma and organization’s other members were also present at that time.
‘Tree plantation an urgent to cope with climate change impacts’
RAJSHAHI: Massive tree plantation is very vital for biodiversity conservation, addressing adverse impacts of climate change and maintaining ecological balance in Rajshahi region. Tree plantation is one of the biggest investments and extensive afforestation can be the effective means of elevating socioeconomic condition apart from protecting the high barind tract from desertification.
The observation came at a discussion at Green Plaza of Rajshahi City Corporation (RCC) yesterday. Department of Forest and Office of the Deputy Commissioner jointly organised the discussion and a 15-day divisional level tree fair here aiming to make the ongoing tree plantation campaign a social movement. Commissioner of Rajshahi division Nur-Ur-Rahman, Deputy Inspector General of Police Khurshid Hossain, Commissioner of Rajshahi Metropolitan Police Hafiz Akter, Additional Deputy Inspector General of Police Nisharul Arif, RCC Chief Executive Officer Shah Mumin and Superintendent of Police Md Shahidullah, among others, spoke at the discussion with Deputy Commissioner SM Abdul Kader in the chair, reports BSS.
3 nomad women apprehended with Yaba
CUMILLA: Police on Thursday arrested three nomadic women with 24,000 pieces of contraband Yaba pills carried inside betel nuts from Baldakhali of Daudkandi, Cumilla. All three belong to Kharia village located in Korhati Union of Louhajang Upazila, Munsiganj. They are Sonia (30), Raj Dulali (28) and Dilruba. Daudkandi Model Thana Inspector (Investigation) Nurul Islam Majumder said the three women drew police team’s suspicion while searching a bus of Hanif Transportation, reports UNB.
