Bangabandhu Sangskritik Jote observes founding anniv

Rajshahi, July 19: Bangabandhu Sangskritik Jote, a cultural-based organization of Rajshahi University celebrated its 21st founding anniversary through much enthusiasm on Thursday. To mark the day, the organization brought out a joyous procession on the campus at about 9:00 am from in front of the University’s Shahidullah kala bhaban.The procession paraded different main streets on the campus. After parading, the members of the organization placed wreaths to the portrait of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman at Bangabandhu residential hall. Later, the procession was ended in front of the University’s RUCSU building. Goutom Goswami, a teacher of Bangla department and also the vice president of the organization, Jeweli Biswas, a teacher of Sanskrit department and also the organization’s executive member were attended at that time. Besides, the organization’s general secretary Shibli Shihab, former general secretary Hasan Imam Sweet, office secretary Azom Khan, RU former central Sangskritik Jote president Sohel Rana and other members of the organization were also attended at that time, among others.

Electricity sub-centre inaugurated at Gafargaon

 Newly- established 33/11 and 5 MVA an electricity sub-center has been inaugurated at Gafargaon under Mymensingh. The new inauguration sub-center is located at Balipara under Trishal upazila. PDB said, being inaugurated sub-center, at least 10 thousand people under this area will be removed from electricity problem and load shedding. Executive Engineer AZM Anwaruzzaman of Gafargaon Electricity sale and Distribution Office presided over the inaugural function. Executive Engineer Mostofa Zaman of Energy Unit Mymensingh, System Protection Engineer Md.Adim of Dhaka PDB, Asst. Engineer Musharaf Hussaion of PDB ,Gafargaon and officials were also present in the meeting.

One held, gold bar seized at Benapole

Members of Border Guard Bangladesh held a youth along with two gold bars weighing 1.1 kilograms worth Tk 47,30,000 raiding Bahadurpur frontier under Benapole port police station at around 7:30am on Wednesday.
The arrested is Milon Hossain, 23, of Purabari under Benapole port police station in Jessore.
Lieutenant Colonel Ariful Hoque, commanding officer, 49 Border Guard Battalion told that tipped off the BGB men led by Subedar Mizanur Rahman captured the youth along with the gold bars while he was going to India.
The arrested was handed over to Benapole port station police along with the gold bars after filing a case in this regard
