3 suspected robbers held in Habiganj

Three suspected robbers were arrested in Habiganj early Monday when they were preparing to commit robbery in the area. The arrested were identified as Zahedul Islam, 23, son of Abdur Rahman, of Tulsipur village of Madhabpur upazila in Habinganj, Rabin Miah, 30, son of Bachchu Miah, of Kalikapur village, and Zakir Hossain, 18, son of Abdul Gafur, of Kamalpur village, of the same upazila, police said. Madhabpur police officer-in-charge Chandan Kumar Chakrabarti said that a machete, two daggers and a bamboo stick were also seized from their possession.The OC said police arrested the suspected robbers around 12:30am when they were taking preparation in a room of Dharmaghar Government Primary School to commit robbery in the area.
Advocacy meeting of Anjali Women’s Dev Organisation held

An advocacy meeting was held by the private volunteer organisation Anjali Mahila Vikas Sangstha in Saidpur, to ensure access to small ethnic groups( Dalit people) on Tuesday. The meeting was organised at the Saidpur Upazila Parishad Auditorium with the help of the International Development Organisation Action Aid Bangladesh (BFI) project. The advocacy meeting was held with the young leaders of Ward no. 3, 7, 9 and 12 to build the leadership and empowerment of the small ethnic / Dalit youth community. Advocacy meeting was presided over by Saidpur Upazila youth development Officer Md. Shahidul Islam. The meeting was also attended by Saidpur Upazila Youth Development officer Mahbubur Rahman and Md. Ataur Rahman .The project coordinator of the private voluntary organization, Anjali Women Development Organization, Humayun Kabir explained the aim and objects of the project. On behalf of Dalit people, Youth Leaders have highlighted their problems in various aspects of life, misery and social inequality. They wish for overall co-operation in all the state’s citizen amenities and the social rights to the upazila youth directorate.
3 hemp traders jailed in Bhairab

A mobile court of Narcotics Control Department in an anti narcotics drive led by Senior Megistrate Abu Taher Sayeed at Manikdhi village in Bhairab upazila arrested Rafiqul Hoque (50) son of Late Jahir Uddin, Md. Jamal (50) son of Late Manu Mia and Nobi Hossion (18) son of Atar Mia all of village Manikdi under Bhair upazila and recovered 6.500 kg hemps their possession. on Tuesday night. The court gets three men one and half years jailed for hemp. Convicted persons were sent to District jail.
Housewife electrocuted in Dinajpur
DINAJPUR: A housewife died after being electrocuted at Abdulpur village in Chirirbandar upazila on Wednesday morning. The deceased was identified as Minara Begum, 38, wife of Akbar Ali of the village here. Family members said Minara Begum was electrocuted while she was cleaning the floor at her own residence around 10 am, leaving her dead on the spot. Md Haresul Islam, officer-in-charge of Chirirbandar Police Station, said they have been informed regarding the matter. There were no complaints in this connection, reports UNB.
