BGB chief visits Benapole

Major General Shafeenul Islam, director general of Border Guard Bangladesh on Monday noon visited Benapole land port to see border surveillance and response system along the Indian frontier. The BGB chief also met with the force’s counterpart Indian Border Security Force (BSF)’s 64 Battalion commander Ravee Bhushan on the no-man’s land. The BGB chief told journalists that border surveillance and response system is such a system for which security of the frontier was ensured. Brigadier General Mamun, regional commander, South Western Region, Border Guard Bangladesh, Colonel Tauhidul Islam, sector commander, Khulna, Lieutenant Colonel Ariful Hoque, commanding officer, 49 Border Guard Battalion, Lieutenant Colonel Khabir Uddin and other BGB officials were present during his visit.
Easy bike collides with passenger coach: 10 injured

At least 10 passengers including women and children were injured, 2 seriously when an easy bike collided head on with a passenger coach (Dhaka Metro-Ba-14-367) of Bepari Paribahan (bound for Sharankhola Upazila headquarters) near at Rawshanara Girls’ College Mor (turn) under Morrelganj Upazila in Bagerhat district at Saturday night . Being informed of the matter a unit of Morrelganj Fire Service reached the place of occurrence at 4 pm. recovered the injured passengers and admitted them to Morrelganj Upazila Health Complex and different local clinics for their treatment. Considering the precarious condition of easy bike driver Shahidul Islam (32) hails from Sharankhola and passenger Al-amin (30) hails from Saralia village under Morrelganj Upazila were shifted from Morrelganj Upazila Health Complex to Khulna Medical College Hospital at 6 pm for better their treatment. The passenger coach was going from Chittagong to Sharankhola. Both the vehicles were seized by the police. But the driver and helper of passenger coach managed to escape. Another report states that at least 5 persons including women and children were injured when a sand loaded trucks collided head on with another truck on Bagerhat-Khulna Highway near at Mahadeber Mor (turn) under Sadar Upazila in Bagerhat district on Friday morning. Condition of 3 of the injured persons is fatal.
3 women, including children held at Kolaroa border

Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has detained three women, including children, while going to India illegally in Kalaroa border of Satkhira. They were arrested on Sunday night from the Rajpur Cemetery Ground area of 13/3 SR 10 Arabic on the Madara border of the upazila. The arrestees were identified as Khaleda Akter, 25, wife of Sujon of Sonatala village of Bagerhat Sadar upazila, Munni Begum (24), wife of Asad Sheikh of Baruikhali village and Kanha Arifa Khatun, her two year old child. Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) Habildar Shahidul Islam said that on Sunday, under the leadership of the BGB, they were detained when those people entered into India from Bangladesh while patrolling anti-smugglers. After they could not show the slip papers, they were made to the Kolaroa police station.
7 ‘gamblers’ held in Magura
MAGURA: Police in a drive arrested seven alleged gamblers from Mashakhali village in Mohammadpur upazila on Saturday night. The arrestees were identified as Mehedi Molla, 26, son of Abul Molla, Manik Molla, 30, son of Lutfur Molla, Tariqul, 27, son of Sultan Biswas, Tariqul Haq, 28, son of Rahman Molla, Rajab Ali, 40, son of Mohammad Molla, Yad Ali, 28, son of Ratan Ali and Alamin, 30, son of Rezaul of the village. Acting on information, a team of police conducted the drive in the area and arrested the seven ‘gamblers’ when they were gambling in the area at night, said Tariqul Islam, officer-in-charge of Mohammadpur Police Station. The arrestees had long been involved in gambling and different unsocial activities, he added, reports UNB.
