11 Afghans killed in US drone attack

An Afghan official says 11 people including six civilians have been killed in a U.S. drone attack in northeastern Nuristan province.
Hafiz Abdul Qayum, provincial governor, says Tuesday that six civilians and five Taliban insurgents were killed in the Monday night attack in Waygal district.
Qayum said villagers and Taliban gathered to visit an insurgent wounded in an earlier attack when the house was targeted by the drone, killing both civilians and insurgents.

Candidate in Mexico vote gunned down

 A candidate in Mexico’s elections was gunned down along with four other people on Monday as they made their way to a campaign rally, the Oaxaca state government and police said. The candidate was identified as 50-year-old Emigdio Lopez Avendano, a member of an indigenous community called Piedra Ceniza, the state justice department said.

French President meets Pope Francis

French President Emmanuel Macron is meeting privately with Pope Francis at the Vatican.Francis ushered the French leader into his studio, then the two men chatted amiably a few minutes Tuesday before media were escorted out of the room.
The encounter comes amid European tensions over migrants, with the pontiff urging nations to welcome all the refuges they can properly manage. Italy is angry that France sends back migrants who illegally enter France from Italy.

Prince William meets Israeli PM

Britain’s Prince William met Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at the Israeli leader’s Jerusalem residence on Tuesday after visiting Israel’s memorial to the six million Jews killed in the Nazi Holocaust.
William, on the first official visit to Israel and the Palestinian Territories by a member of the British royal family, was greeted at the residence, against the backdrop of the Union Jack and the Israeli flag, by Netanyahu and his wife, Sara.
