Members of Border Guard Bangladesh seized imitation ornaments worth Tk 20 lakh searching a passengers’ bus at Amrakhali under Benapole port police station on Sunday . Lieutenant Colonel Ariful Hoque, commanding officer, 49 Border Guard Battalion told that tipped off the BGB men led by Nayeb Subedar Mizanur Rahman seized the imitation ornaments searching a Jessore bound passengers bus that left from Benapole land port at around 10am on Sunday.The ornaments were kept in two sacks underneath the passengers’ seat. But none was nabbed in this connection. The goods were deposited to Benapole customs warehouse after filing a case with the police station.
RU Gymnasium provides modern facilities to students

A large room that is decorated with the modern equipments of gymnasium. With the help of these modern instruments all are involved in the exercise on both sides of the room.Somebody is giving push-up and stretching, one is continuing shoulder pressing to adjust back pad, and articulating arm hand grips. There is an image has been seen each afternoon of the central gymnasium at the back side of stadium in Rajshahi University (RU).With the addition of modern equipments, the participation in the gymnasium increased recently. Perth Prathim Mollick, deputy director of RU Physical Exercise & Education (PEE) has been engaged as instructor of this gymnasium. He gives instructions on bodybuilding.Perth said, “Female along with male students also gets the chance to exercise here. Many girls like national athletes Shirin Akter and Zakia Sultana have trained in this gymnasium. It is open from 6.30am to 8.00am for female while 4.30pm to 7.00pm for male every day. He further told, to be member of the gymnasium students must complete their registration with the photocopy of students` ID card and photographs. Till now, about 1200 members have here. Around 350 students came to the average everyday wherever 20 to 30 students came earlier. In this modern gymnasium where has 16 types of 70 instruments approximately.
BGB man held ‘with Yaba pills’ in Magura
MAGURA: A member of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) was held reportedly with 54 pieces of Yaba tablets from Binodpur Bazar in Mohammadpur upazila on Thursday. The arrestee was identified as Omar Ali, 23, a member of BGB-8 Battalion, Chittagong. Tipped off, a team of police conducted a drive in the area and arrested Omar reportedly with the Yaba pills while selling those to some Yaba traders, said Khan Mohammad Rezwan, superintendent of Magura police, reports UNB.
23 ‘drug addicts’ jailed in Rajshahi
RAJSHAHI: A mobile court here on Thursday sentenced 23 people to six months’ jail for drug abuse. Mahbubul Alam, director of Rab-5, said the elite force in a drive arrested 20 ‘drug addicts’ from different parts of Godagari upazila. Besides, a team of police arrested three drug addicts from the same upazila. Later, a mobile court, led by Godagari UNO and executive magistrate Shimul Akhter, sentenced them to six months’ jail each when they were produced before the court. All the convicts were sent to jail at night, said Rab, reports UNB.
