AL leader snatches accused from police custody in Mehendiganj

Cadres led by a ruling Awami League leader has snatched an arrested accused from police custody on Sunday noon at Aliganj Bazaar of Ulania union under Mehendiganj upazila of Barisal. Police officer on duty was injured and camera of a local journalist Sanjoy Kumar was snatched by the AL cadres during the incident. Injured Sub Inspector Habibur Rahman of Mehendiganj police station, acknowledging the facts said Sabuj alias Pichchi Sabuj of Lakkhipur village was accused in different cases and recently assaulted daughter of Shahabuddin Majhi of the area. Local newspapers published a report of the incident. Then AKM Ehsanullah, Barisal district police superintendent, ordered Mehendiganj police to arrest the accused stalker Pichchi Sabuj and police arrested him from Aliganj Bazaar at about 11:30 AM Sunday. When police started journey with the arrested accused to Mehendiganj PS, then a gang of AL cadres led by Mawlana Jasimuddin, Ulania union AL president, attacking the police, injuring the officer by biting on hand, snatched the arrested Pichchi Sabuj, S I Habibur Rahman told .
National Sanitation Month observed

A colorful rally was brought out by upazila administration; mass health engineer department and Brac wash to observe National Sanitation Month-2014 from UNO office premises and moved the main roads of the upazila under Dupchanchia upazila of Bogra district on Tuesday. Besides, a befitting manner, the upazila administration and the others head of the different institutions had chalked out the elaborate programmes after the rally marking the day in Habibur Rahman Sathi audition. The programmes include bringing out colorful rally, holding discussion meeting, rendering songs on sanitation at public places, decorating road islands with poster and banners with slogans on sanitation. Upazila chairman Abdul Gony Mondal, upazila nirbahi officer Saifur Rahman Khan, mass health engineer department officer Sahaduzzaman, former president of Dupchanchia press club Golam Faruq, journalist Emdadul Haque, Taufiq Alom and brac officials’ took part in the rally. Upazila nirbahi officer Saifur Rahman Khan said, ” In his concluding speeches emphasized for achieving 100 percent sanitation coverage anyhow by 2015 to ensure a better and disease free health society.”
Field Day of BRRI Dhan-39 held in Bogra

BRAC Food and Agriculture Safety Programme has been working for self sufficiency of the farmers at Dhunot Upazila in Bogra district. In order to this program a ‘crop cutting field working day’ activities was held 22 October in chikashi union at Horegasa block. The programme was presided over by .Faruk Hossein,Upazila Manager of BRAC food and agriculture sector . Md. Jahangir Alom was chief guest upazila agriculture officer, dhunot bogra, also attend on this program. It is refer that brac food & agriculture safety net programme has been working with 16 block at Dhunot . It helps 77 farmer at 10 block for paddy crops in 33.94 acres land, for BRRI dhan-39 cultivating and vegetables. Agriculture Department said, about 66 maund paddy has been targeted production achieved per acre. Farmers $ Agri Departmentt thanked aspect success of the program for giving technical help to the farmer by BRAC.
3 expelled for adopting unfair means at admission test

Three students were expelled on Monday on charge of adopting unfair means in the admission test under ‘F’ unit (non-science group) at Rajshahi University. The admission tests under ‘F’ unit in two shifts (science and non-science group) and ‘G’ unit under 2014-15 academic session were held on Friday. The expelled students were identified as Nazmul Huda from Natore, Lutfar Rahman from Chandpur and Mizanur Rahman from Rajshahi. Among the trio, Lutfar Rahman is a student of Arabic department of Dhaka University. They were detained from 2nd science building of the university. RU proctor Prof Tarikul Hasan said, on duty teacher of the exam hall handed over Lutfar and Nazmul to the university proctorial bodies on charge of adopting unfair means while Lutfar was exchanging the OMR sheet to Nazmul after pointing out the correct answer. Mizan was detained on charge of forgery as his registration card was fake. No seal of educational board was seen in his registration card. “The detainees were expelled following interrogation”, Proctor added.
