RMCCI hosts Iftar party
RANGPUR: Rangpur Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RMCCI) hosted an Iftar party on Monday evening at Six Season Community Centre in the city. On the occasion, a discussion was arranged on importance of the holy month of Ramadan. Deputy Commissioner Enamul Habib attended the function as the chief guest with RMCCI President Rezaul Islam Milon in the chair. Police Super Mizanur Rahman and Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Md Rabiul Islam were present as the special guests. Senior vice-president of RMCCI Golam Zakaria Pintu, its Vice-president Shamsur Rahman Koyel, directors and general members, industrialists, businesspersons, leaders of different business organisations and civil society members took part in the Iftar party. Khatib Alhaj Moulana Hafizul Haque of Rangpur Central Court Jam-e-Mosque was the main discussant, reports BSS.
5 fishermen arrested from Sundarbans

Smart Patrolling Team (of Sundarbans) arrested 5 fishermen from Katka sanctuary of the Eastern Division of Sundarbans on the charge of catching fish from there illegally on Monday morning, according to a report received here. The arrested fishermen are Shahidul Islam (35), Halim (20), Saiful (22), Sobhan (26) and Badol Hossain (25). It is learnt from a source of the forest department that acting on secret information members belonging to the Smart Patrolling Team-1 raided Katka sanctuary area under Shrankhola forest range and arrested 5 fishermen from there while they were catching fish from Bandeali canal without procuring permit or pass from the forest department and seized 5 prohibited Bendi fishing nets, one boat and some other fishing appliances from their possession. They were later handed over to the Katka sanctuary office and a case was registered with the local PS against them under Forest Act.
College student killed in Baraigram road accident

A college student Zahidul Islam (24) was killed in a road accident in Baraigram under Natore district on Sunday night. Zahidul Islam was a son of Abdul Mazid of the village Nurdah under Baraigram upazila and student of Bonpara Degree College. The OC of Jhalmolia Highway thana Shariful Islam said, victim Zahidul Islam was going from Ahmedpur to his own village Nurdah by bicycle at about 8 pm. Then a Pabna bound truck hit his bicycle from backside. As a result, he fell down under the wheel of the killer truck. He died on spot.
Three men held with Yaba, arms in Kishoreganj

Members of Rapid Action Battalian (RAB- 14) in a drive arrested three drug traders along with 13800 pieces yaba tabled, country made arms and cash Taka 24 thousand from Adarshapara area in Bhairab port town of Kishoreganj on Sunday night. The arrested were identified as Alamgir (40) son of Mohiuddin Sheikh, Suzon Min (35) son of Muktu Mia and Elies (35) son of Awal Mia.Acting on atip-off, an elite force team led by Bhairab Camp Commander Md. Mustafizur Rahman conducted the drive in the Bhairab town and arrested along with 13800 pieces yaba tablets, country made arms and Tk 24 thousand. Two cases were filed in this connection with Bhairab Police Station and they were sent to Kishoreganj District Jail.
Islamic Foundation implementing dev projects in Narsingdi
NARSINGDI: Islamic Foundation has been implementing a number of socioeconomic development, poverty alleviation and motivational projects in the district during the last couple of years. The foundation also imparted training to the Imams on preventing terrorism and militancy. It also provided trainings to local people on primary health care to create mass awareness about the adverse effects of contaminated drinking water, arsenic and pollution. The foundation is also collecting Zakat from local affluent persons for Zakat fund every year and distributing swing machine, rickshaw, and cash money as Zakat among the poor and destitute people in the district. Deputy Director of Islamic Foundation, Narsingdi Mohiuddin Ahmed said the foundation has imparted trainings to over 25oo Imams on poverty alleviation, human resources development and self-reliance, reports BSS.
