Housewife kills self in Rajshahi

A housewife reportedly committed suicide by hanging herself at Poschim Budhpara area in Rajshahi city on early Sunday. The victim was identified as Tania, 18, wife of Ripon, a resident of the area. The reason behind the death was not confirmed yet. Local sources said that Tania was sleeping alone in her room while Ripon’s mother called him but there was no any response. Getting no feedback, the mother of Ripon went her room and found her hanging. Later, the neighbours and police team rushed there after the incident. Sub-inspector of Motihar police station Taj Uddin confirmed the matter and he said adding that the body was sent to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital for autopsy. The cause of death could be known after getting the autopsy report, the SI also said.
Yaba trader held
Police, in a drive, arrested an alleged yaba trader from Bagha upazila of Rajshahi district on early Monday. The detainee was identified as Alamgir Hossain Juwel, 26, son of Zamal Uddin, a resident of Jotroghu village under Arani union of the upazila. Officer in charge (OC) of Bagha police station Rezaul Hasan Reza confirmed the matter and said that during an anti drug drive, a team of police arrested Alamgir while he was selling yaba pills in his village area. A case was filed against the detainee with the police station under Narcotics Control Act in this connection and he was sent to jail through the court on Monday morning.
Five fishermen held while catching fish illegally in Sundarbans
BAGERHAT: Members of Smart (Spatial Monitoring and Reporting Tool) Patrolling team in a drive arrested five fishermen while they were catching fish illegally without getting permission from Bandeali canal at Katka sanctuary of Sundarbans in Sharankhola upazila on Monday.The arrested fishermen are-Shahidul Islam, 35, Abdul Halim, 20, Saiful Islam, 22, Sobhan Ali, 26, and Badal Hossain, 25, of Patharghata upazila in Barguna district. Tipped off, a team of Smart Patrolling conducted a drive in the deep forest of Sundarbans and arrested them while catching fish at Katka sanctuary around 10am, said Mahmudul Hasan, divisional forest officer of Sundarbans East Zone. They entered into the canal on Saturday. One boat, two maunds of fish and five nets were recovered from their possession, reports UNB.
Female ‘drug trader’ arrested in Netrakona
NETRAKONA: Police arrested a suspected female drug trader along with 507grams of heroin from Purba Moinpur inthe district town yesterday . A team of police conducted a drive in the area around12:30amand arrested Yasmin, wife of Mehdi Hasan, and an accused in a number of drug-related cases, along with the heroin worth Tk 50,70,000, said Md Borhan Uddin Khan, officer-in-charge of Netrakona Model Police Station.The OC saidMehdi and his wife Yasmin are listed drug traders of the district, reports UNB.
Robber lynched in Jashore
JASHORE: A suspected robber was killed in a lynch-mob attack on Jashore-Magura highway adjacent to Nongarpur Bazar in the district town yesterday . The identity of the deceased could not be known immediately, said Inspector (operation) Shamsuddoha of Kotwali Police Station.Locals chased a gang of robbers while they were committing robbery in the area and caught one of them, he said. They gave him good thrashing, leaving him critically injured. On information, police rescued him and took him to Jashore General Hospital where the duty doctors declared him dead, reports UNB.
