Next budged will be business friendly: NBR Chairman

National Board of Revenue ( NBR) Chairman Mosharraf Hossain Bhuiyan said the upcoming national budget will be business friendly. ‘It will also be people oriented,’ he added. The NBR chief was addressing to businessmen and concerned officials at Benapole land port on Friday evening. The views exchange meeting was held at Benapole customs house arranged by the customs department. Chaired by Belal Hossain Chowdhury, Commissioner, Benapole Customs, the meeting was attended among others by NBD members Firoj Shah Alam, Kanan Kumar Roy and Rezaul Hasan, Mizanur Rahman Khan, former president, Jessore Chamber of Commerce and Industries, Jahid Hasan Tukun, President, Jashsore Press Club, Ashraful Alam Liton, mayor, Benapole Municipality, Mofizur Rahman Sazan, president, Benapole Customs Clearing and Forwarding Agents association, Emdadul Haque Lata, General Secretary and Mohsin Milon, President, Benapole Press Club.
Cows , kitchens burnt in Kalaroa fire

A farmer’s cows and kitchen have been burnt to ashes in Kalaroa village of Satkhira at around 4am on Sunday. At that time, some cows staying in the cattle house were injured. The incident took place at the house of Abdur Rashid in Bashantpur village. Officer in-Charge of Kalaroa Police Station (OC) Biplob Kumar Nath confirmed the matter and said that he and the police officers along with him went to the spot and tried to control the fire.
Two persons arrested with Yaba

Police arrested two drug traders named Shahid Miah (45) and Kabil Mia (23), along with Yaba and Mangaas in separate drives of Netrokona on Tuesday night. They were arrested from Kumarkali area of Shamganj and upazila Sadar areas. The arrested was Shahid Mia, son of late Kanto Mia of Madhunal village under Agia union of the upazila and son of ShamsulHaque of Gohalakanda village under Goalakanda union of KabilMia .Officer-in-charge of Purbadhala police station said. Billal Uddin said that the police detained Shahid Mia with five pitch yawas and arrested five of Gaza Kabbal Mia on the basis of secret news. On Wednesday, they were sent to jail in prison.
5-day workshop on block-boutique begins in Sylhet

A five-day training workshop on block printing and boutique designing has began in Sylhet on Sunday aiming to encourage women to engage themselves with productive activities and enhance their expertise. Local lawmaker Yahiya Chowdhury inaugurated the workshop as the Chief Guest at the conference room of Sylhet Chamber of Commerce and Industry(SCCI) office in the morning. The fair was organised by the Small and Medium Entrepreneur Foundation in Association with the SCCI. Stating that the small and medium entrepreneurs were playing a crucial role in boosting the industrial sector of the country, the chief guest in his inaugural speech said that the women entrepreneurs would be benefitted through such workshops. SCCI president Khandaker Shipar Ahmad presided over the inaugural programme that was addressed, among others, by SME Foundation deputy director general Abdus Salam, the SCCI director Ziaul Haque, Falah Uddin Ali Ahmed and Mujibur Rahman.
