3 arrested with yaba, phensidyl

Some 1000 bottles of phensidyl and 600 pieces of yaba tablets were seized in separate drives in Mahasthan and Gabtoli upazila by Bogra Detective Branch (DB) police on early Saturday. Police also arrested three persons in the connections. The arrestees are identified as Truck driver Rafiqul Islam, 30, son of Dudu Monna of village Habibpur of Gabtoli upazila, Helper Shohel Rana, 25, son of Afsar Ali of village Betula of Salonga upazila of Sirajganj district and Ashikur Rahman, 24, son of Haydar Ali of village Kuturbari of Gabtoli upazila of the district. Md Mozzamel Haque, Superintendent of Police said acting of a tiff of a team of DB police conducting a drive at Mahasthan Bridge area on Dhaka-Rangpur Highway and cordoned a Dhaka bound Truck. Later police seized 1000 bottles of Indian phincidyle from the truck and arrested the truck driver and helper.
Netrakona World Food Day observed in Netrakona

Speakers at a discussion meeting on World Food Day here on Thursday last underlined the need for building up public opinion for taking family farming programs in eradicating hunger and poverty, ensuring national food security and nutrition as well as achieving sustainable development of the country. Netrakonna District Administration and District Agriculture Extension Department jointly organised the meeting at the conference room of Netrakona DC office. The Deputy Commissioner Netrakona Dr Torun Kanti Shikder addressed the meeting as Chief Guest while additional deputy commissioner (general) Netrakona Dr Mahe Alam was in the chair. The meeting was also addressed by mayor of Netrakona pourashava Prasanta Ray, Additional Deputy Commissioner (revenue) Netrakona Yousuf Ali, District Food Controller Netrakona Mohammad Rafijuddin, Deputy Director of district agriculture extension department Samir Kumar Sarker and District Fisheries Officer Nurul Islam.
Water Management Samity meet held in C’nawabganj

The triennial general meeting of Mohadanga Pannabeel Water Management Cooperative Society of Chapainawabganj municipality was held on Saturday. The meeting was held at Mohadanga Eidgah with member of the samity Ramzan Ali in the chair. Lawmaker of Chapainawabganj Sadar constituency Md Abdul Wadud spoke at the meeting as chief guest while district cooperative officer Wasiul Hoque spoke as special guest. The financial statement was presented by the president of the samity Aminul Islam. The chief guest said, with the cordial efforts of the prime minister Sheikh Hasina Second Mohananda Bridge is being constructed at a cost of Tk. 50 crore on the river Mohananda at Shaheber Ghat area for the development of the people of the remote char areas of the upazila and 96 percent work has so far been completed. He added that this government has constructed a modern railway station at Chapainawabganj and has done massive repairing work of the railway lines.
RAB nabs youth with yaba in Rajshahi
RAJSHAHI: Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested a youth with 869 pieces of Yaba in Barkatpur village under Charghat Upazila of the district on Friday afternoon. The arrested person is: Choitanna Kumar Mondal, 30, son of late Amulya Mondal. On a tip-off, a team of the elite force conducted a sudden raid at the area at around 4.20 pm and arrested him with the contraband item.The operation team also seized three mobile phone sets and cash Tk 7,024 from his possession.A case was recorded with Charghat Police Station in this connection and the arrested person was handed over to the police, reports BSS.
