Section 144 imposed in Kishoreganj

Kishoreganj District Administration imposed Section 144 in and around of Shaheed Syed Nazrul Islam Medical Hospital in Kishoreganj Sadar upazila on Sunday to avoid clashes between activists of two factions of Joshodal Union Awami League and 2 No. Ward Chhatra League over the calling of separate meetings. Amid 144 section chase and counter stopping chase began. At least 15 people were injured in this incident. The injured have been given primary treatment at different places. Police control tear gas and rubber bullets to bring the situation under control. It is learnt that on Sunday afternoon, Union Awami League leader Lal Mia in favour of the son of President Rasel Ahmed Tuhin called for the meeting. On the other hand, the District Unit Awami League Joint General Secretary Syed Ashfaqul Islam Titu supported the Jashodal union’s wing leader BCL leader Tamal Mia at the same place, the tension arose. At 2pm, there was a chase and chase began when two people gathered in the same place. At the time, both of them were involved in domestic violence. Police tear the shell and charge the staff to bring the situation under control. A group of police led by Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer Abdullah Al-Masud was on the spot. A large number of law enforcers were deployed till the report was submitted.
Corruption Prevention Week begins in Saidpur

A discussion meeting and cultural programme was held on the occasion of the Corruption Prevention Week – 2018 at Saidpur Upazila on Sunday . Saidpur Upazila Corruption Prevention Committee organised the discussion at Sun Flower School and College premises. Saidpur Upazila Parishad Chairman Md Moksedul Momin was present as Chief Guest. UNO Saidpur Md Bazlur Rashid and Secondary Education Officer Rehana Yasmin were present as the special guests. Vice-president of Saidpur Upazila Corruption Prevention Committee Principal Md Hafizur Rahman Hafiz, presided over by the program. The programme was addressed by the General Secretary Tofazzal Hossain Lutu of the organisation . Among others, the members of Saidpur Upazila Corruption Prevention Committee, honourable persons, journalists, development activist, head of different educational institutions, teachers and students were also present.

A seven day long ‘Bangladesh-India Friendly Darma Festival- 2018’ was began at Rajshahi University (RU) on Sunday. The Fine Arts Department of the university under supervision of the university administration organized the festival in association with the Indian High Commission to Bangladesh. RU Vice-Chancellor Professor M Abdus Sobhan inaugurated the event at the premises of Ismail Hossain Siraji Bhaban on the campus at 6:00 pm. Later, a discussion was held at university Kazi Nazrul Islam Auditorium while chairman of RU Fine Arts Department Prof Dr. Ataur Rahman was in the chair. Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh Harsh Vardhan Shringla addressed the occasion as the chief guest. Among others, Prof Hasan Azizul Huq, RU Pro-VC Prof Ananda Kumar Saha, Prof Malay Kumar Bhowmick, Prof Dr. Somnath Sinha of Rabindra Bharati University, India. Sources said about thirteen dramas of 13 renowned theatre groups of Bangladesh and India will be staged during the festival.
