Body of missing trawler passenger recovered from river in Hizla

Dead body of the missing trawler passenger recovered from Meghna River near old Hizla launch station of Barisal at about 9:00 AM Friday. Shawkat Anwar, Hizla police station officer in charge, said recovered dead victim Chan Mia, 44, from Keraniganj of Dhaka was reported as missing after a trawler with him and other passengers capsized during their boarding from launch at Hizla launch station of Barisal on Thursday morning. Police after informed by local people recovering the dead body took to police station. The dead body sent to Barisal Sher E Bangla Medical College Hospital for autopsy after lodging a case of unnatural death, the OC Hizla PS told. Mentionable Chan Mia reached from Dhaka to Hizla by launch and while trying to board on a trawler to reach his destination from backside of the launch, the trawler capsized due to strong current in the river.
One 3-wheeler driver killed in Wazirpur
Driver of a three-wheeler familiar as Mishuk, beaten to death at Dhamura under Sholok union of Wazirpur upazila in Barisal district on Friday morning. The victim was identified as Firoj Talukdar, 31, of Dakkhin Dhamura. Anwar Hossain, Wajirpur police station officer in charge, said two groups of three-wheeler drivers engaged in altercation and scuffle over maintaining serial of the trip about 9:00 AM on Friday. At that time Firoj was injured severely and attending physician declared him as dead after locals brought him to union health complex. Police recovering the dead body sent to Barisal Sher E Bangla Medical College Hospital for autopsy and till this report no case was lodged, the police officer told.
Hanging body found at residential hotel in Jhenidah

Police recovered a body of a trader from Rahmania residential hotel at Kaliganj upazila town in Jhenidah on Thursday night. He hanged himself with a rope across the ceiling fan of the room.
The victim is identified as Ilias Hossain, 25 son of late Abdul Gafur of Simantapur village under Bera upazila in Pabna district. He was a vegetable trader. Officer- in- charge (OC) Anwar Hossain of Kaliganj police station said, Ilias hired a room- No-25 at Rahmania residential hotel on October, 7. But he did not come out of the room on Thursday from morning to evening. His room was locked from inside. On suspicion the hotel authority informed the police. On information police reached the spot and recovered the hanging body from the ceiling fan of the room. They also recovered two mobile phones and Tk 916 from his possession. The body has been sent to Jhenidah sadar hospital morgue for an autopsy. A case has been filed with Kaligonj police station in this connection, the OC added
Founding anniv of Shibalaya Samity observed

The 26th founding anniversary of Shibalaya Samity of Dhaka was observed at Shibalaya Government High School premises under Shibalaya Upazila in Manikganj District on 8th October. The Samity arranged a reception and scholarship giving programme and cultural function to observe the day. The famous writer and columnist Sayad Abul Maksud was Chief Guest at the function. Samity President Dr. Nalini Ranjan Das chaired the function where Samity Vice President Md. Hafizur Rahman, Secretary General and Shibalaya Upazila Chairman Mohammad Ali Akbar, Treasurer Mozibur Rahman, Advocate Cham Mia, Advocate Abdus Salam PP, Shibalaya UNO AKM Galiv Khan, AL leaders Bikas Chandra Saha and Abdul Quddus, OC Rakibuzzaman, among others, spoke at the function. Sources said, six worthy persons of their respective fields were given reception.
Fish fingerlings released in Jamalpur
JAMALPUR: Jamalpur Fisheries Department has recently released fish fingerlings in various water bodies in seven upazilas of the district to boost fish production. According to fisheries department, the government has taken up the programme to meet the protein deficiency of the poor people in the district. It further said, 5,208 kilograms fish fingerlings (10 to 15 cm long) of Rui, Katal. Mrigel , Kalabous and Ghania varieties were released in 67 various flood plain, government and institutional water bodies in Jamalpur sadar, Melandah, Islampur, Dewanganj, Madarganj, Sarishabari and Bakshiganj upazilas. A total of 4,943 people-3,506 males and 1,437 females – will be benefited under the programme, the sources said. After nursing 4 months the beneficiary groups would consume the fishes. Ranajit Kumar Paul, district Fisheries officer, said after four months the beneficiaries would get an additional production of about 23 tonnes fishes worth of about Taka 28 lakh, reports BSS.
