Dalit , minor ethnic groups assembly held at Birampur

A gathering of men and women of all ages of Dalits and ethnic groups was held in Beladanga at Birampur of Dinajpur on Sunday night. At the time, 77 students were provided assistance for higher education . In collaboration with the Palli Karmo Sahayak Foundation (PKSF) and the initiative of the Grameen Bikas Kendra (GBK) of the private development organization Dalits and Small Ethnic Groups Assembly Chief Executive Officer Gram Bikash Kendra Md. Moazzem Hossain presided over the meeting . PKSF Chairman Md Kazi Kholiquzzaman Ahmad was present as Chief Guest in the discussion. PKSF Deputy Managing Director Dr Md Jasim Uddi and General Manager AQM Md Golam Mowla addressed the event as special guests. Birampur Press Club President Md Akram Hossain, Fulbari Press Club President , The New Nation, The Ittefaq correspondent Lecturer Amar Chand Gupta Apu, Birampur Prothom Alo Correspondent ASM Alamgir, Daily Amader Somoy Correspondent Wahidul Islam Defence, The Daily Tritiya Matra Correspondent Shuvo also spoke among others. Scholarships were distributed among ethnic students and ethnic groups served their traditional cultural events.
BNP workers’ meet held in Satkhira

Satkhira District BNP organised a workshop on Saturday on current situation at the BNP’s temporary office in Dupur . Presided over by District BNP President Rahmatullah Palash, the meeting was addressed as the chief guest at the central BNP’s Vice-president Ed Nitai Roy Chowdhury. He said that this government can not survive for a long time in Awami misrule . Former BNP lawmaker Kazi Alauddin, a member of the central BNP, spoke as a special guest at the meeting. Shahidul Alam, District BNP General Secretary Sheikh Tariqul Hasan and others were present. Among others, Joint General Secretary of the district BNP Municipal Mayor Tajinkin Ahmed Chishti, Municipal BNP President Habibur Rahman Habib, District Jubo League President Abul Hasan Hadi, District Krishok League President Abu Zahid Dablu, District Tanti party President Rafiqul Alam Babu, District Student’s President Hafizur Rahman Mukul and Organizing Secretary Shafiqul Alam Babu were present.
Wheat harvesting begins in Panchagarh
PANCHAGARH: Farmers in the district have started harvesting wheat amid an expectation of achieving a bumper production of the crop in the current season. Sources with the Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE) said the farmers are happy with the output and the newly harvest wheat is being sold in the local market at a price ranging between Taka 900 and 1000 per maund (40kg). One of the farmers Susil Kumar of Sadar upazila said he cultivated wheat on 3 bighas of land this year and achieved a yield of 33 maunds. The farmer earned a net profit of Taka 21,000 by cultivating wheat this time, reports BSS.
