5-day annual art exhibition ends at RU

A five-day art exhibition titled “Annual Art Exhibition-2018” will end yesterday at fine arts faculty of Rajshahi University.
The ceramics and sculpture department faculty organised the annual exhibition at the tow gallery rooms at the faculty where a total of around hundred arts, including ceramics and sculptures by the department are on the display. RU VC Prof M Abdus Sobhan inaugurated the exhibition at 10am on March 22 addressing as chief guest. Among others, RU pro-vice chancellor Professor Ananda Kumar Sahah and treasurer Professor AKM Mostafizur Rahman addressed the inaugural ceremony as chief guests with department’s chairman Professor Mostafa Sharif Anowar in the chair. In the programme, artists Asadul Islam Asad and Bonijul Haque were awarded for their outstanding contributions in the arts sectors. Later, the guests visited the gallery rooms and exhibited the arts. Subroto Gain, a second year student of mass communication and journalism department who visited the exhibition on Sunday, told New Nation that it was his first visit to such exhibition. “The works are seemed to be real, and in particular, they are really inspiring”, he said.
Genocide Day observed in Kishoreganj

Kishoreganj District Administration, District Police, ruling Awami League, Jasod, Gonatrantree Party, Gono Forum, NAP, CPB and Socio-Cultural organizations taken elaborate programmes to mark the Day with due respect this year as well. A discussion meeting and cultural function arrange by district administration was held at local Art Council hall on Sunday morning. Deputy Commissioner Md. Sarowar Morshed Chowdhury presided over. It was addressed among others by Zila Parished Chairman Advocate Md. Zillur Rahman, Police Super Mashrukur Rahman Khaled (BPM), ADC (General & DS) Torafder Md. Akhter Jamil, D.E.O Mostafizur Rahman, CAB President Alam Sarowar Tito, District Press Club President Mostafa Kamal, Former President of Sanak Journalist Saiful Hoque Mollah Dulu and CAB Secretary Monowar Hossain Rony. D.C Sarowar Morshed Chowdhury said that 1971 genocide carried out in Bangladesh is one of the most terrible ones in the world. Later, a cultural function was held at local Art Council hall on Sunday noon.
Police arrest 67 with 785 pieces of Yaba pills in Jessore

Jessore police in separate raids detained 67 people along with 785 pieces of Yaba pills in last 24 hours till Saturday morning, a press release issued by the office of the suprintendent of police said. According to the press release, the police detained the people in raids across the district. The police also claimed to recover a hand bomb from Keshabpur.
In the meanwhile, the police seized 8 motorbikes for not having proper documents in favour of the vehicles, the press release added.
