Youth held with Yaba tablets in Kishoreganj

Members of Rapid Action Battalian (RAB- 14) in a drive arrested an alleged yaba trader along with 3400 pieces of Yaba from Josodal Kalikabari area in Kishoreganj on Saturday night. The arrested was identified as Md Shafiqul Islam (23), son of Md. Nizamudidn of Josodal in Kishoreganj Sadar. Acting on a tip-off, an elite force team led by Kishoreganj Camp Commander Md Shuvon Khan conducted the drive in the area and arrested Shafiqul along with 3400 pieces yaba tablets worth taka 10.50 lakh. A case was filed in this connection with Kishoreganj Model Police Station and sent to Kishoreganj district jail.
Health camp held in Shaghata
GAIBANDHA: A free ENT health camp for the poor was held on the premises of Kamalerpara College under Shaghata upazila in the district on Saturday. SKS Foundation, a local reputed voluntary organization, arranged the camp under its health services and nutrition activities of SAMRIDDHI (ENRICH) programme funded by Palli Karma Saghayak Foundation (PKSF). A team of physicians led by specialist surgeon on ENT Dr. MA Jalil Khan of TMSS Medical College, Bogra conducted the health camp from 9 am to 3 pm and provided the appropriate treatment to the patients. A total of 169 poor patients with chronically affected diseases on ENT coming from far flung areas of the upazila and its neighboring areas received free healthcare services including medicines as per the prescription of the doctors from the health camp, reports BSS.
Digital Innovation Fair begins in Narsingdi
NARSINGDI: A three-day Digital Innovation Fair-2018 began on Narsingdi Shilpakala academy premises in the town of the district on Thursday. Senior Secretary at Ministry of the Public Administration Dr Mohammad Mozammal Hoque Khan inaugurated the fair, organized by Narsingdi District administration, as the chief guest with Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Narsingdi Dr Shubash Chandra Biswas in the chair. Hoque said the country has achieved tremendous success in the digitization process for reaching services to the people’s door steps quickly and in a hassle free manner. He said people are getting digital services like e-governance, e- education, e-agriculture, e-health, e-admission, e-banking, e-outsourcing and other services, accelerating the uplift activities of the country. Deputy Director of Department of Woman affairs Sultana Razia, Chief Executive of Narsingdi Zilla Parishad Dipak Ranjan Chowdhury and police super Amena Begum BPM addressed as special guests on the occasion, reports BSS.
10 houses gutted in Chuadanga fire
CHUADANGA: At least 10 houses were gutted in a fire that broke out at Khudiakhali village under Alamdanga residential project of the district early on Saturrday. Chuadanga Fire Service Station Manager Khalid Hossain said the fire originated from a kitchen stove at a house in the project around1.45amand soon engulfed adjacent houses. On information, two units of firefighters from Chuadanga and Alamdanga rushed in and doused the flame after two hours of frantic efforts. Meanwhile, the fire gutted 10 houses of the project, including valuables. However, no causality was reported, reports UNB.
