Valentine’s Day, Sundarban Day celebrated in Bagerhat

Under the joint initiative of Bagerhat Press Club and Sundarban Foundation the Valntine’s Day and Sundarban Day was celebrated in Bagerhat district town in a befitting manner on Thursday. On the occasion a colourful rally that was brought out from Bagerhat Press Club premises in the morning led by Pankaj Chandra Roy, Police Super of Bagerhat and Ahad Uddin Haidar, president of the Club paraded the main thoroughfares of the district town and ended at the same place. It was followed by a discussion meeting held in the Press Club auditorium with its president Ahad Uddin Haidar in the chair. In his inaugural speech Ahad Uddin Haidar explained the need and importance of the day. Tapan Kumar Biswas, DC, Bagerhat while was addressing the meeting as the chief guest told, the world consists of both human being and nature. So, we should love both the nature and human being. If we do not behave well with the nature she takes revenge of it and consequently, we are to now suffer from various natural calamities. He added, Sundarban the biggest mangrove forest of the world. It was not created by man. It was created naturally. It is a blessing for our country. So, we should take all possible steps to save this natural mangrove forest.
Workshop to perform National Anthem correctly held

The National Anthem was performed in the voice of hundreds of students at Saidpur in Nilphamari on Tuesday . At the end of the workshop for the presentation of National Anthem correctly, hundreds of students from 13 Institutions performed National Anthem. On this occasion, a program was organized at the auditorium of Saidpur Lions School and College. The workshop was inaugurated by Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Khaled Rahim. Saidpur Upazila Executive Officer (UNO) Bazlur Rashid, Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) Parimal Kumar Sarker, Assistant Primary Education Officer Zakir Hossain, Chairman of the Institution Lion Nazrul Islam, Principal Reazul Islam, Teachers and well-wishers of different educational institutions were also present. Saidpur UNO Bazlur Rashid said that the workshop was held with the participation of the students of five Unions and Municipality with the objective of providing proper National Anthem with the audio and video provided by the Ministry.
BGB recovers arms at Benapole

Border Guard Bangladesh men on Tuesday night recovered a foreign pistol and one round of bullet raiding an area at Sadipur under Benapole port police station. Press release of 49 Border Guard Battalion stated that the arms and ammunition were recovered in an abandoned condition at around 7pm on Tuesday. ‘The arms and ammunition were smuggled to Bangladesh from India,’ it added. A case was lodged with Benapole port police station in this connection.
13 brick kilns fined Tk 6.5 lakh in Magura
MAGURA: Department of Environment (DoE) in drives with district administration on Tuesday fined at least 13 brick kilns Tk 6.5 lakh for illegally burning woods. Ilias Hossain, officer-in-charge of Magura Sadar Police Station, said a team of DoE led by Khulna DoE executive magistrate Iqbal Hossain and Maruga executive magistrate Moushumi Jerin conducted a mobile court at 13 brick kilns at Chaulia and Kochhundi union of Sadar upazila and fined Tk 50,000 each for illegally burning wood at the kilns, reports UNB.
