SUST celebrates 27th founding anniv

The Shahjalal University of Science and Technology on Tuesday celebrated its 27th founding anniversary with festive mode that coincided with Pahela Falgun, the first day of spring season according to the Bengali calendar. SUST Treasurer Elias Uddin Biswas and the University Day Celebration Committee Convener Prof Syed Shamsul Alam inaugurated the celebrations at 10:00am through hoisting the national and university flags in front of the administrative building. They also paid tribute to the father of the nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman on behalf of vice-chancellor through placing a wreath at his portrait on the campus. University teachers, students and employees set off a procession on the campus and, later, held a rally that was addressed among others, by professor Syed Shamsul Alam, SUST Teachers’ Association president Syed Hasanuzzaman and proctor Zahir Uddin Ahmad. University treasurer, together with his colleagues, cut a cake at the administrative building as part of the celebration.

HSC exam held peacefully at Gafargaon

The Bangla First paper of HSC Examination -2017 was held peacefully at Gafargaon under Mymensingh district yesterday. The HSC examination was held in two centres at Gafargaon Government college and Gafargaon Mohila Degree College. The total examinees were 1784. The students of 11 colleges are sat for the HSC examination this year. The HSC examination at both the centres were held without copying. Besides the environment of the examination hall was also fine . The invigilators were very alert in the hall. AC (Land ) Sheikh Shamsul Arefin on duty said, the total environment of the examination hall is very satisfactory. The HSC examination is going on in peacefully.

Boro paddy farming plan taken in Shajahanpur

 Hundreds of farmers have prepared land for Boro cultivation under Shajahanpur Upazila of Bogra district . The peasants are passing busy time to cultivate the land in full swing to bring the ‘kharip’ crop cultivation.According to department of agriculture(DAE) office source, the farmers of mrool,Choopinagar,Khottapara, Madla, Asekpur, MajhiraAria,Kharna, and Gohail union of the upazila have brought 13500 hectatres of land under Boro cultivation of the upazila. Among them 800 hectares of land have been planted till .Sunday.saidShohel Md. ShamsuddinFiroz .340 Shallow Mechines, 10Tube wells are being used.he added.
Paddy farmer AbdusSamad under Shajahanpur upazila said, he has sowed two bighas of land under Boro cultivation in this current season spending already Tk 6000.He will have to spend Tk5000.he added.

BCL protests attack on Bangladesh mission in London

The district unit of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) staged a procession here on Sunday afternoon protesting the Wednesday’s attack on the Bangladesh High Commission in London by the BNP- Jamaat men.Hundreds of the leaders and activists of the district unit of BCL brought out the protest procession that paraded the main city streets. After the procession, a protest rally was held on the Zahaj Company Mour premises in the city.In the procession, they also chanted slogans demanding imprisonment of acting chairman of BNP Tarique Rahman and BNP-Jamaat men for the attack during which the photograph of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was torn.
