One held with 20 gold bars at Benapole

 Benapole: Members of Border Guard Bangladesh arrested a suspected gold smuggler along with 20 pieces of gold bars worth about TK one crore from Baro Achra border at Benapole international check post yesterday morning. The arrestee was identified as Sabuj Miah, 34, son of Shahidul Islam of Sadipur village. Lt Colonel Ariful Haque, commanding officer of BGB 49 battalion, said tipped-off, a patrol team of BGP conducted a drive here and arrested the man. After searching his body, they recovered 20 pieces of gold bars. The seized gold bars were deposited to Benapole customs godown. A case was filed reports UNB.

BGB detains one with bombs, sharp weapons

Border Guard Bangladesh personnel detained a youth along with two hand bombs and three sharp weapons from Boalia Bazar under Benapole port police station on Tuesday night. Lieutenant Colonel Ariful Hoque, commanding officer, 49 Border Guard Battalion told that tipped off the BGB men led by Habilder Shibnath Goswami, Benapole company headquarters, BGB detained Jasim Uddin,35, of Boalia village under Benapole port police station at around 11:45 pm on Tuesday from an abandoned house at Boalia Bazar. He was handed over to Benapole port station police. A case was lodged with Benapole port police station in this connection.

Teach-in aids distributed in Sherpur

DIO conducts massive publicity on Rangpur development

The District Information Office (DIO) conducted massive publicity here informing the common people about huge developments and successes of the government achieved during the past nine years. With disseminating information on developments, the DIO conducted social awareness raising campaign on various issues during the period in which hundreds of the local community people participated with great enthusiasm. “We have conducted the publicity everywhere, including remote rural and char areas, in all eight upazilas here under the Department of Mass Communications of Ministry of Information,” said Senior District Information Officer Md Humayun Kobir.
