Workshop held on Social Safety Net programme in Kishoreganj

An advocacy workshop on Digization of Social Safety Net Programmea in Bnagldesh was jintly arranged by 2i Programme, Prime Minister’s Officer and Kishoreganj District Administrati at local collectorate conference room yesterday. Abu Md. Yousuef, Director General and Additional Secretary of Social Service Department was attended as chief guest while ADC (Education & ICT) Golam Md. Bhuiyan presided over the workshop. Ali-Noor Additional Secretary of Social Service Ministry and Md. Motiur Rahman, Senior Deputy Secretary of Freedom Fighter Ministry were attended as special guest. It was addressed among others by Tohurul Islam Totul, Programme Manager of a2i, Prime Minister’s Officer, Md. Kamruzzaman DD of Social Service, Adv Shariful Islam, Sadar Upazila Chairman, Kuliarchar Upazila Chairman Nurul Millat, Itna Upazila Chairman Chowdhury Kamrul Islam, Sadar UNO Abdullah-al-Masud, Hossainpur UNO Abdullah-al-Mamun, Austagram UNO Md. Youth killed in Sylhet road crash

An unidentified youth was killed in a road accident in Mohajanpotti area of the city yesterday morning. Quoting witnesses, Anwar Hossain, Sub-Inspector of Kotwali Police Station, said a speedy truck hit the young man while he was crossing the road around 9 am , leaving him dead on the spot.On information, police recovered the body and sent it to MAG Osmani Medical College and Hospital.

College girl kills herself in Chapainawabganj

CHAPAINAWABGANJ: A college girl allegedly committed suicide by hanging herself with a ceiling fan in a mess at Professor Para of the town recently. The deceased was identified as Arifa Akter Rina, 22, daughter of Enamul Haque, hailing from Gomastapur upazila and a 3rd year student of Management department at Rohonpur Yusuf College. Saber Ahmed, officer-in-charge of Chapainawabganj Sadar Police Station, said Arifa came back her mess after attending a job test and locked her room in the morning. As roommates found no response from Arifa’s room, they informed police in the afternoon. Later, police entered her room breaking the door and found Arifa’s body hanging with the ceiling fan around 6pm, he added, reports UNB.

Drug peddler held in Jessore  

JESSORe: Police arrested an alleged drug peddler along with 200 grams of heroin from Chachra Check Post area in Sadar upazila recently.. The arrestee was identified as Hossain Ali alias Mora, son of Sekandar Ali of Raipara area in the district town. Jamal Uddin, sub-inspector of Chachra Check Post Police Camp, said on secret information a team of police took position in the area and arrested Hossain Ali. Later, the law enforcers recovered 200 grams of heroin from his possession after searching his body. There are several cases filed with different police stations of the district against Hossain, the SI added, reports UNB.

Two ‘heroin traders’ held in Rajshahi

RAJSHAHI: Police in separate drive arrested two heroin traders along with 22 gram of heroin from Tanore Uporpara and Krishnapur villages of Tanore upazila of the district recently. The arrestees were identified as Jahangir Alam Mridha, 35, son of Abdul Rahim Mridha of Tanore Uporpara village and Mahbubur Rahman alias Hapan, 30, son of late Tamir Uddin of Krishnapur village of the upazila. Rezaul Islam, officer-in-charge of Tanore Police Station, said a team of the police station led by sub-inspector Raihan Sardar conducted a drive in the area and arrested Jahangir Alam along with 12 gram of heroin. reports UNB.
