Farmers formed human chain in Baraigram

Farmers formed a human chain demanding to stop hot water supply with waste products of Gormati Rashid Auto Rice Mills to the crop fields of Nalkhola beel of Baraigram upazila under Natore. This human chain was held at the crop field of Nalkhola beel on Monday. About 400 farmers of Gormati, Nougram and Shibpur villages took part in this human chain. Human chain was addressed by the farmers Mahfuzur Rahman, Vashan Ali, Zamir Hossain, Saidur Rahman and Alauddin. Speakers said, Gormati Rashid Auto Rice Mills has been supplying hot water with waste products to the crop fields of Nalkhola beel for about 4 years. As a result, crop production has been being hampered and destroyed.
 Winter clothes distributed

Some 100 pieces of warm clothes were distributed among the poor people by Non Governmen Organisation RICK at it’s Bonpara Office in Baraigram under Natore on Monday. Upazila Nirbahi Officer Md Anwar Parvej was present as a Chief Guest in the programme. RICK Manager of Baraigram Upazila Branch Md Komor Ali was presided over the function.
SME fair ends in Narsingdi
NARSINGDI: A seven-day Small and Medium Enterprise (SME) fair organized by District Administration and SME Foundation ended on Shilpakala Academy premises here on Monday evening. On the occasion a concluding function was arranged where Senior Secretary of Internal Resources Division and Chairman of The National Revenue Board Mohammad Mosharraf Hossain Bhuiyan (NDC) addressed as the chief guest. Deputy Commissioner Dr Shubash Chandra Biswas presided over the function while Managing Director of SME Foundation Shofiqul Islam, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Power, Energy and Mineral Resources, Mohammad Baitul Amin Bhuiyan, Chairman of Narsingdi Sadar Upazila Parishad Monzur Elahi addressed as special guests. President of District Chamber of Commerce Abdullah- al Mamon, Principal of Abdul Kader Mollah City College Dr. Moshiur Rahman Mirdha, and Chairman of Dream Holiday Park here Pobir Shah also spoke at the function, reports BSS.
Daring dacoity committed in Fakirhat

A daring dacoity was committed in the house of Sohag Bhuiya, son of one Mozaffor Bhuiya of the village Choto Khajura under Fakirhat Upazila in Bagerhat district now living in Saudi Arabia at the night of Sunday. Police visited the place of occurrence. It is learnt from the police and the locals that at mid night some 8/10 armed dacoits raided the house, entered the dwelling house by breaking open the grilles of the windows.Then they made the inmates of the house hostage at gun point and decamped with cash Tk.20 thousand, gold ornaments weighing 16 Tolas and other valuables worth Tk.16 lakh. Being informed of the matter Md. Mizanur Raman, Assistant Police Super of Fakirfhat Circle and Md. Abu Zahid, O/C, Fakihat PS visited the place of occurrence.
Old woman killed in road mishap
An old woman was killed on the spot when she was knocked down by a speeding truck bound for Khulna on Khulna-Mawa Highway at Palerhat under Fakirhat Upazila in Bagerhat district on Sunday. The deceased was identified as Pinjira Begum, wife of one Intaz Fakir of Pagla-Uttarpara village under the same Upazila. It is learnt from the locals that on the day when the ill-fated woman was crossing the highway at Palerhat point the killer truck knocked down her from her behind and fled away. As a result, she was injured fatally and died instantly.
