Old man dies due to cold in Bagerhat

An old day labourer named Abdur Rahim Tarafdar (70) died due to biting of severe cold in C & B Bazar under Sadar Upazila in Bagerhat district on Monday. Locals informed that deceased Abdur Rhman had been engaged in transplanting work of Boro paddy seedlings in the paddy fields belonging to one Eunus Ali of C & B bazar. On the day in the morning while Abdur Rahman was transplanting the Boro seedlings in the field he was caught by severe biting of cold and fell ill seriously. He was rushed to Khulna Medical College Hospital where the doctor on declared him dead. Late Abdur Rahman hailed from the village Chatiantala under Bagharpara Upazila in Jessore district.
Refreshers’ training held in Kishoreganj

Deputy Commissioner Md Azimuddin Biswas attended as Chief Guest while ADC (Edu. & ICT) Golam Md. Bhuiyan in the chair. It was addressed among others by Deputy Director and DS of local government Md Zohirul Islam, ADC (General and DS) Torafder Md Akhter, ADC (Revenue) Dulal Chandra Sutradhar, Acting Civil Surgeon Dr Mujibur Rahman, Senior Magistrate Abu Taher Sayeed, Sadar UNO Abdullah-al-Masud and NDC Shamima Yesmin. Housewife commits suicide in Magura
MAGURA: A housewife allegedly committed suicide by hanging herself at Ghashiara village in Sreepur upazila on Tuesday night. Police said family members found Tania Khatun Shaban, 22, wife of Sumon Mandal and also a garment worker, hanging from the ceiling of her room at night and informed police. On information, police recovered the body and sent it to Magura General Hospital morgue for autopsy, said officer-in-charge of Sreepur Police Station Rezaul Islam. However, it is still not clear what prompted Bristi to take her own life, the OC added. An unnatural death (UD) case was filed, reports UNB.
Cop’s wife killed in Jessore road accident
JESSORE: The wife of a policeman was killed in a road accident at Murail intersection in the district town on Tuesday afternoon. The deceased was identified as Selina Begum, 38, wife of Abdur Rashid, assistant sub-inspector of Khulna Metropolitan Police. Police said the coupe was heading towards the district town riding a motorcycle. When they reached Murali intersection, Selina suddenly fell on the ground from the bike around 2 pm when a speedy truck ran over her, leaving the woman dead the spot, said Abul Bashar, officer-in-charge (Investigation) of Kotwali Police Station, reports UNB.
‘Smuggler’ held with gold in Chuadanga
CHUADANGA : Police arrested a suspected smuggler along with 64 tola of smuggled gold from bus stand area of Damurhuda upazila headquarters yesterday .The arrestee was identified as Kamal Hossain, 40, son of Munsur Ali, a resident of Anshtola area of Jibannagar upazila. On secret information, a team of police conducted a drive and arrested Kamal along with the gold smuggled from India worth Tk 32 lakh, said Akram Hossain, officer-in-charge of Damurhuda Police Station, reports UNB.
