Edn materials distributed at flood affected schools

Educational materials were distributed among the students of two primary schools in the district as the schools were flood affected recently. Rotary Club of Dhaka Premier sponsored the programme. Deputy Commissioner Md. Habibur Rahman was the Chief Guest and other guests were Rotarian Jahir Uddin Babar, Rotarian Rejaul Gani Rana, President of the Rotary Club of Lalmonithat S M Shafiqul Islam, Ferdousi Rahman Beauty. Every student of Paschim Barua Govt. Primary School and Balapara Govt. Primary School got one bag, three pens, three writing pads , one pencil, one eraser, one pencil cutter and a scale .  
Youth’s body recovered from Jamuna
NAOGAON: Police on Sunday morning recovered the body of a young man from the bank of the Jamuna river near the deputy commissioner’s residence in the town.
Identity of the deceased could not be known immediately. Zakirul Islam, officer-in-charge of Naogaon Sadar Police Station, said locals spotted the body while crossing the river and informed police.On information, police recovered the body, also partially eaten by jackals, around 7:00am. Police suspected that the young man might have been killed by miscreants by beating with some metal item, reports UNB.
Free medical camp held at Noapara

A free medical camp was organised by Noapara Doctor’s Club at Noapara under Jessore District on Friday. Led by Dr. Mossaref Hossain, President of the club, 10 MBBS doctors of Noapara Doctor’s Club served the camp. Other doctors are Dr. Ataher Hossain, Dr. Arobindo Kumer Biswas, Dr. Milon Kumer Boas, Dr Asrafuzzaman Ripon, Dr. Ahamed Foysal Pavel, Dr. Md. Sariful Islam, Dr. Md. Alauddin, Dr. Ruksana Khanom Rusi and Dr. Jeasmin Akter. Under the supervision of Noapara Pouro Councilor Mostofa Kamal, doctors prescribed for 850 patients free of cost.
International Literacy Day observed

The International Literacy Day was observed in Pirganj in a befitting manner on Saturday. The programee was organised Upazila Administration . A colourful procession was brought out from Upazila premises and it paraded different main roads of Pirganj Municipality town and ended at the Model govt Primary School. Later, a discussion meeting was held at Model govt Primary School premises. Md ABM Iftekharul Islam Khandakar, Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) was chaired where Pirganj Upazila parishad chairman Md. Ziaul Islam Zia was present as Chief Guest. The meeting addressed among others by Upazila Agriculture Officer Abul KalamAzad, Secondery Education Officer Md Taher Ali, Upazila Education Officer Md Nazrul Islam and journalist and The New Nation Thakurgaon district corresapondent Md Mokaddes Hayat Milon.
Youth held with firearm, ammo in Gazipur
Gazipur: Members of Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) in a drive arrested a young man along with a pistol and two rounds of bullet in Konabari area of the city early Sunday. The arrestee was identified as Delwar Hossain, alias Kala Delu, a resident of Patuakhali district. Being tipped-off, a team of Rab-5 conducted a drive in the area and arrested Delwar along with the arms and ammunition around 1.00am, reports UNB.
Teenage girl’s hanging body found in Sylhet

Police recovered hanging body of a teenage girl from Bhitorgul village in Goainghat upazila on Friday. The deceased was identified as Rubina Akter, 18, daughter of Abul Kashem of the village. Being informed by locals, police recovered the hanging body of Rubina in the evening, said Abdul Hye, officer-in-charge of Goainghat police station.
