Int’l Migrants Day observed in Fulbari

International Migrants Day observe in Fulbari Upazila of Dinajpur on Tuesday. In the morning Upazila administration organized a colorful rally was introduced in the municipal town from the Upazila Parishad complex. The end of the rally at the discussion, Upazila Agriculture Officer ATM Md. Hamim Ashraf on the chair. Upazila Agriculture Extension Officer Mst. Rumman Akhter, Primary Education Officer Mst. Hasina Bhuiyan, Upazila Resource Center instructor Md Mofakhkharul Islam, non-governmental organization Basic of executive director Shyamal Sarkar addressed the event as guests. People of different classes and occupations, including officials of the government departments, primary school teachers and Journalist participated in this program.
BCL factional clash left 7 wounded in Jessore

At least 7 activists of Bangladesh Chhatra League were wounded in a clash between two groups of the ruling party’s student wing over taking tea without paying the price at around 9pm on Sunday. Confirming the information, party sources said the two factions of Abhaynagar upazila unit Bangladesh Chhatra League locked in clashes as BCL activist Rinku Ahmed along with others attacked tea stall owner. Abdur Razzak when he demanded the prices of several cups of tea. Followers of Abdur Razzak, who are also activists of the same student organization, clashed with Rinku and his men in response at Bhangagate under Nawapara industrial area leaving 7 people wounded. The wounded were rushed to Abhaynagar upazila health complex. Confirming the incident, Sheikh Goni Mia, officer in-charge, Abhaynagar police station told Newsmen that 2-3 people were wounded in a clash at Bhangagate over nonpayment of prices of several cups of tea. He, however, denied BCL’s involvement in the clash. None was arrested and no case was lodged till filing of the report.
2 injured in road accident at RU

Two persons including an admission seeker were injured after a Rajshahi University officer’s private car hit a rickshaw in front of RU vice chancellor residence recently. The injured were identified as Nurunahar Akter, an admission seeker who came to the university from Gaibandha to attend her viva voce under A unit (arts faculty), and Rickshaw driver Bacchu Miya. They were undergoing treatment at Rajshahi Medical Collage Hospital. Witnesses said, RU geography and environmental studies department’s deputy registrar, Md Abdul Malek, was heading toward the university paris road by his car in high speed. The car hit the Rickshaw carrying the female student who was going to attend her viva voce at Shahidullah Arts Building around 9am, leaving both the admission seeker and the driver injured. Later, the students of the university rushed them to the University Medical Centre from where they were transformed to Rajshahi Medical Collage Hospital. RU proctor Professor Lutfor Rahman told New Nation that police seized the car and detained the driver, Pappu Mia, adding he said that they asked the law enforcers to take necessary steps over the matter. In reply he said that the viva voce of the injured student had been taken at the RMCH where he was undergoing treatment.
