US military to send cyber soldiers to the battlefield

The US Army will soon send teams of cyber warriors to the battlefield, officials said Wednesday, as the military increasingly looks to take the offensive against enemy computer networks.
While the Army’s mission is generally to “attack and destroy,” the cyber troops have a slightly different goal, said Colonel Robert Ryan, who commands a Hawaii-based combat team.

Mugabe visits Singapore hospital

 Former Zimbabwe president Robert Mugabe visited a hospital in Singapore this week apparently for medical checks, his first trip outside his country since he was ousted from office last month, sources in Singapore said on Thursday.. The 93-year-old former leader who ruled the southern African nation for 37 years, resigned after the army and his ruling ZANU-PF party turned against him when it became clear that his 52-year-old wife, Grace, was being groomed as his successor.

US considers navy visits to Taiwan

China accused the United States on Thursday of interfering in its internal affairs and said it had lodged a complaint after U.S. President Donald Trump signed into law an act laying the groundwork for possible U.S. navy visits to self-ruled Taiwan.
Tensions have risen in recent days after a senior Chinese diplomat threatened China would invade Taiwan if any U.S. warships made port visits to the island which China claims as its own territory.

Afghan air force kills 20 militants

At least 20 militants have been killed following airstrikes in Afghanistan’s southern province of Helmand, the country’s defense ministry said on Thursday.
The Afghan National Army (ANA) Air Force launched airstrikes in Marja, Gereshk and Naway-i-Barakzai districts, Helmand province on Wednesday, killing 20 terrorists, the ministry twitted.
