Scholarship , certificate distribution and reception of 5 honorable personalities were held at Saidpur Upazila on Friday. The ceremony was organised at the Lions School and College premises on behalf of Saidpur Municipality. VC of Rangpur Begum Rokeya University Dr. Nazmul Ahsan Kalimullah was the Chief Guest. Nilphamari District Council Chairman, freedom fighter Joynal Abedin, Saidpur Upazila Parishad Chairman Moksedul Momin, Associate Professor of Bangla Department of Begum Rokeya University of Rangpur. Dr. Tuhin Wadud, Vice-Chancellor Professor Abul Kashem Majumder and Saidpur Upazila Nirbahi Officer Md. Bazlur Rashid was the Special Guest of the ceremony. Mayor of Saidpur Municipality Md.Amzad Hossain Sarkar presided over the Program. Among them, there are 30 people in Kindergarten section, 30 from primary section and 30 from junior section. 5 Honorable personalities were honored in recognition of their contribution in the same event. They were the former Chairman of Saidpur Municipality Alhaj Md. Bakhtiyar Kabir, Music (Posthumous) Late Radio Artist Kashem Ali Mollik, Nesar Uddin Ahmed for his contribution in Sports, Abdus Sattar Patwari, as proud father and Alamgir Swapan, Journalist of Jamuna TV special reporter.
Two held with huge gold bars, arms in Jessore frontiers

Border Guard Bangladesh personnel, in two separate raids, detained two people along with huge gold bars and two arms raiding Jessore borders on Friday and Thursday. 4kg 280 grams of gold bars, worth Tk 1 crore 90 lakh 84 thousand were seized from the possessions of Billal Hossain, 25 and Imran Hossian, 22, both of Putkhali village under Benapole port police station raiding Benapole check post area while they were taking those to India at around 9:20 am, said Lieutenant Colonel Ariful Hoque, commanding officer, 49 Border Guard Battalion told Newsmen. The BGB personnel, in another raid, seized two air pistols raiding Arshingri village under Chaugachha police station at around 8:15 pm on Thursday. The arms were seized in abandoned condition after chasing smugglers, the BGB CO added. Two cases were lodged with Benapole and Chaugachha police stations in these regards.
‘Drug peddler’ held with Yaba, hemp in Sirajganj
SIRAJGANJ: Police in a drive arrested an alleged drug peddler along with 152 piece of Yaba tablets and 250 gram hemp from Janatar Hat area of Ullapara upazila on Friday night.The arrestee is Manjur Alam, 45, son of Fazu Mandal of Bohiman village of the upazila. Kowshik Ahmed, officer-in-charge of Ullapara Model Police Station, said tipped off, a team of police raided the house of Manjur and arrested him along with the Yaba and hemp. A case was filed, reports UNB.
