Bangladesh Food Safety Network (BFSN), Consumer Association Bangladesh (CAB) and Kishoreganj District Administration jointly arranged an advocacy seminar on Food Safety issie from consumer perspective held at Kishoreganj Collectorate Conference room on Thursday. Dilara Begum Asma M.P attended as chief guest while Deputy Commissioner Md. Azimuddin Biswas presided over.. Civil Surgeon Dr. Habibur Rahman, ADC (G) & D.S Torafder Md. Akhter Jamil, D.D of Agriculture Shafiqul Islam, CAB Vice-President Nazer Hossain, ADM Alamgir Hossain, and Deputy Secretary of Local Govenrment Zahirul Islam attended as special guest. It was addressed among others by District CAB President Alam Sarowar Tito, Acting President Advocate Maya Bhowmik, Sadar UNO Abdullah-al-Masud, Press Club President Kazi Shaheen Khan, Mohila Parished President Sultana Razia, District Press Club President Mustafa Kamal, Women leader Bilkis Begum, CAB District Secretary Monoar Hossain Rony, Senior District Information Shamsul Hoque, DPEO Sajjad Hossain. At least 101 participent joint the advocacy seminar.
Jamaat leader held with gunpowder in C’nawabganj
CHAPAINAWABGANJ: Police arrested a leader of Jamaat-e-Islami along with 500 gram gunpowder at Benipur village in Nachole upazila early Friday. The arrestee is Rafiqul Islam, 48, assistant secretary of Nachole Upazila unit Jamaat and son of late Abdur Rahman of the village. Tipped off that some Jamaat leaders, numbering 15/16, were holding a secret meeting at the house of Rafiqul to carry out subversive activities, a team of police conducted a drive there around 2:00am and arrested Rafiqul along with the explosives, said Nachole police station OC Chowdhury Jobayer Ahmed, reports UNB.
Drug peddler jailed for 3 yrs in Chandpur
CHANDPUR: Acourt hereon Thursdaysentenced a drug peddler to three years rigorous imprisonment for taking and selling Phensidyl in Shahrastiupazila of the district. The court also fined the condemned convict, Eshaque Mia, 32, son of Md Shamsul Huq of Katkamta villagein Kochua Upazila, Tk 10,000, in default, to suffer in jail three months more. According to the prosecution, police in adrive detained Eshaque along with 39 bottles of Phensidylat Shahrastion February 25, 2013. Later, a case was filed under Narcotics Control Act. After examining the records and witnesses, Additional District and Sessions Judge Md Mamunur Rashid handed down the verdict, reports UNB.
Motorcyclist killed in head-on collision with truck
CHUADANGA: A male motorcyclist was killed following a head on collision with a truck at Uthali Bazar area in Jibannagar upazila on Thursday evening. The deceased was identified as Younus Sheikh, 45, son of late Ramjan Sheikh, resident of Chandabas area in Damurhuda upazila of the district. He was in-Charge Inspector of Jibannagar Family Planning office. Witness said, the accident took place while Younus was going to Damurhuda, a truck coming from opposite direction collided with his bike head on, leaving him injured. Later, locals took him to Chuadanga Sadar Hospital where duty doctor declared him dead, reports UNB.
