Medical assistant sent to jail on charge of rape

After passing absconding life for about 2 and half a months Kishor Kumar Mistry, a Medical Assistant of Kachua Upazila Helth Complex in the district appeared before Anti- Women And Children Oppression Tribunal Court, Bagerhat a few days ago and submitted a bail petition to the court in order to take bail in connection with a case filed in the court against him by one of his female colleagues who was raped by him with the assurance of marrying her formally. But the court rejected the bail petition and directed the police to arrest him. According to the direction, police arrested him and sent him to the jail hajat. It is learnt from the petition filed in the court by the victim that afar joining Kacua Upazila Health Complex as a woman Health Assistant she was acquainted with rapist Kishor Kumar Mistry, a male Medical Assistant of the same Health Complex. After a few days Kishor Kumar invited her over mobile phone to pay a courtesy visit to his Govt. quarters. Accordingly when she went there the rapist confined her in a room very tactfully and committed rape on her forcibly. After the leakage of the incident the female employees of the Health Complex became furious and decided to take serious action against the rapist.
Two drug peddlers held with hemp in Barisal

A unit of Rapid Action Battalion on Wednesday noon arrested one male and one female drug peddlers with thirty kilo hemps and seized their motorcycle from Nathullabad bus stand areas in Barisal. The arrestees were identified as Hossain Ali Liton, 35, son of Alauddin Mia and Beauty Khatun, 26, daughter of late Abdul Islam Mia of Daulatpur Mohishakundu areas under Kushtia district. Captain Abul Bashar, officer of RAB-8, told RAB team receiving information about drug peddling from Kushtia to Barisal following the motorcycle from Gournadi. After reaching at Nathullabad bus terminal area of Barisal RAB gave signal to stop the motorcycle driving by Liton carrying Beauty, but they tried to flee. However RAB succeeded to detain the motorcycle with the driver and passenger from Barisal Education Board area after chasing .
Jamaat Amir of Mirzaganj upazila arrested
Police on Wednesday morning arrested Mawlana Abdul Mannan Mujahidi, Amir of Jamaat E Islami Bangladesh Mirzaganj upazila unit under Patuakhali district and teacher of West Subidkhali Salehia Madrasa. Qamrul Alam Molla, Mirzaganj police station officer in charge, said Mawlana Mujahidi was arrested from Deuli village of Subidkhali. The JIB leader was arrested as an accused suspected for committing sabotage and sent to Patuakhali jail after produced before the court, the police officer told.
2 arrested with 2260 bottles phensidyl in Gazipur

Gazipur police arrested two persons with 2260 bottles phensidyl from east chandra in Kaliakoir upazila on Saturday afternoon. Gazipur SP Harun or Rashid organised a press conference at his office auditorium on Saturday this connection. On secret information SP, Gazipur Md Hrun or Rashid sent message in different camp under Kaliakoir police station to catch phensidyl loaded truck. Later, Kaiakoir police lead by SI Zakir Hossain of Konabari camp and SI Azharul Islam of Mouchak camp raided the area of East Chandra in Kaliakoir Upazila and seized the truck with 2260 bottles phensidyl and arrested the driver and helper on the spot.
