Hotel labourer killed in Kurigram road accident

A hotel labourer was killed in a road accident on Kurigram-Bhurungamari road at 10 am on Thursday. Sub-Inspector of police of Sadar thana Ataur Rahman said a passenger loaded minibus knocked an auto rickshaw from behind in easter side of the Dharla bridge at 10 am on Thursday. One passenger was killed on the spot. The deceased was identified as Johur Ali 30 son of late Akhter Uddin of village Moratary under Ghogadaha union of Sadar upazila. He served as a labourer of Kurigram Rupsha hotel. The minibus was caught but the driver and helper of the bus fled away after the incident. Officer-in-charge of Kurigram Sadar police station Abdul Baten admitted the incident.
Bomb explosion hurts two while making bomb

Two manufacturers were wounded while a bomb exploded suddenly at Baropota under Benapole port police station at around 2:30 pm on Friday. Locals and the police said Quashem Ali, 32 of Goga village and Ashraf Ali of Baropota village were hurt seriously as a bomb exploded suddenly at the residence of Ashraf Ali at around 2:30 pm on Friday. Two hands and an eye of Quashem were badly damaged in the explosion. Confirming the information, Apurba Hasan, officer in-charge, Benapole port police station told New Nation that the two were taken to a secret places by their accomplices after the explosion. ‘They were being under treated there’, he added. The OC also said the police were trying to find out the whereabouts of the miscreants.
Absconding LGED engineer arrested in Gournadi

Police on Friday arrested Dev Ratan Mandal, 53, sub-assistant engineer of Local Government Engineering Department as an absconding accused of three cases lodged by anti corruption commission. Abul Kalam, Gournadi police station officer- in- charge, said a police team led by assistant sub inspector Qamruzzaman operating a drive arrested Engineer Dev Ratan from his native home at West Chandrahar area of Gournadi at about 10:00 AM Friday. Engineer Dev Ratan was suspended from LGED and became absconding after ACC lodged three cases with Tajumuddin police station of Bhola in 2012 accusing him and 3 others for collecting illegal wealth through corruption, misappropriation of public funds worth Tk 1.16 core etc., said OC Gournadi PS. Court ordered to arrest him and seizing his movable properties after he became absconding. The arrestee sent to jail after producing before the court, police sources said.
Relief distributes among flood-hits in Manikganj

Shibalaya Upazila Administration and former Upazila Chairman Abdur Rahim Khan personally distributed rice, dry food, medicine and cash among the flood affected people of Arua, Shibalaya and Teota union under Shibalaya Upazila in Manikganj on Friday. Sources said, Shibalaya UNO AKM Galiv Khan distributed rice at Kustia Government Primary School premises among the 74 families who had lost their home in the river Padma a recently. Arua UP Chairman Md. Akteruzzaman Khan Masum, Head teacher Abdur Raham, Reporter Mohammad Younus Ali including local elites were present there. On the other hand, Shibalaya Upazila former Chairman Abdur Rahim Khan distributed dry food, medicine and cash among the flood affected people Alokdia, Satpara and Charshibalaya the remote areas of Shibalaya and Teota Union. Social Worker Md. Shukur Ali, Alal Uddin Alal, Lutfor Rahman Sentu, Abdul Kader, teacher Atidur Rahman, among others, were present there.
