Five people are dead and 10 others were left wounded, including two children, in a shooting spree that rocked a small Northern California community on Tuesday, officials there say.
The death toll would likely have been much higher, and included many children, Tehama County Assistant Sheriff Phil Johnston said, but officials at Rancho Tehama School immediately placed the school on lockdown after hearing shots fired.
N. Korea slams Trump for insulting leader

North Korea’s state media on Wednesday slammed Donald Trump for insulting leader Kim Jong-Un, saying the US president deserved the death penalty and calling him a coward for cancelling a visit to the inter-Korean border. An editorial in the ruling party newspaper Rodong Sinmun focused its anger on Trump’s visit to South Korea last week, during which he denounced the North’s “cruel dictatorship” in a speech to legislators in Seoul.
China launches world’s first all-electric ship

China has launched world’s first all-electric ship that can travel up to 80 km with 2000-tonnes cargo after a two-hour charge, state media reports said.
The 70.5-metre-long ship, which weighs about 600 tonnes, was launched in Guangzhou in South China’s Guangdong Province, the People’s Daily reported.
US envoy summonsed in Hungary

Hungary’s foreign ministry has summoned U.S. envoy David Kostelancik over a plan to fund rural media outlets in Hungary, which Budapest considers a “political intervention” ahead of an election due early next year.
The United States said on Monday it would devote $700,000 to fund rural media outlets in Hungary to help train and equip journalists in defense of an independent media it sees subject to growing pressure and intimidation.
Quake hits southern S. Korea

A rare 5.4-magnitude earthquake hit South Korea’s southeast Wednesday afternoon, the second most powerful quake on record, in a country that seldom experiences significant tremors.
The quake, which was felt across much of the country including in the capital Seoul, struck at the shallow depth of nine kilometres (six miles) near the southeastern industrial city of Pohang at around 2:30 pm (0530 GMT), the Korea Meteorological Administration said.
Greek capital floods leave 3 dead

Flash floods on the Greek capital’s western outskirts Wednesday converted roads into raging torrents of mud and debris, killing at least three people and inundating homes and businesses. One woman died in her flooded home in the Megara area, while a man’s body was also recovered from another flooded home in the area.

The flooding came after severe weather overnight, with a storm hitting the area with driving rain.
