91 arrested in Jessore

In a nightlong drive, police arrested 91 people accused in several cases including violence from different areas of the district till Monday morning. According to police control room source, among the 91 arrestees, 13 were from Kotwali, two from Chaugachha, six from Sharsha, seven from Jhikorgachha, 41 from Benapole, two from Keshabpur, 10 from Monirampur, eight from Abhaynagar and two from Bagharpara. The arrestees were sent to court on Monday noon.
Vermi compost farm launched in Rajshahi
RAJSHAHI: A private sector vermin composting (bio-fertilizer) farm has been launched in Debipur Jhopduar village of the district on Sunday aims at boosting organic fertilizer production. Integrated Farm Management Club (IFMC),an ngo, launched the farm. Upazila Agriculture Officer Dr Bimal Kumar Pramanik opened the farm as the chief guest with IFMC President Abdur Razzaque in the chair. Among others concerned,Durgapur Upazila Agriculture Extension Officer Mintu Mian and Sub Assistant Agriculture Officers Mukhlesur Rahman and Jahedur Rahman were present on the occasion. Speaking on the occasion, Dr Bimal Kumar Pramanik said vermin compost fertiliser, one kind of organic fertiliser made from earthworm, has started becoming popular in the area. Vermicompost fertiliser is being used to regain the fertility of land lost due to excessive use of chemical fertiliser. Some farmers, who took training, have started manufacturing organic quality fertiliser. He said that this kind of fertiliser enhances the crop production. The fertiliser is very nutritious for crops. It contains cocoon that helps grow more earthworm in agricultural field helping the crop grow more,Pramanik said. The response from the farmers is very positive in this regard, Dr Pramanik added, reports BSS.
Spots competition inaugurated in Saidpur

A Hadodo competition was inaugurated in Saidpur organized by Self-Help and Rehabilitation Program (SHARP) recently . The competition was formally inaugurated on Saturday afternoon with the support of the Palli Karma-Sahayak Foundation (PKSF) at Chandiar Danga in Botlagari Union of the Upazila. Nilphamari District Council Chairman Freedom Fighter Joynal Abedin inaugurated the competition as the Chief Guest. Saidpur Upazila Parishad Chairman Md. Moksedul Momin, Nilphamari District Council Member Alhaj Md. Abdul Gafur Sarker and Israt Jahan Pallabi, Nilphamari Sadar Upazila Sonarai Union Parishad Chairman Mustafa Kamal present as the Special Guest and other guest of the inauguration ceremony. Botlagari Union Council Chairman, Helal Chowdhury presided over the function. Executive Head of the Self-Help and Rehabilitation Program Mahbub-ul-Alam delivered the welcome speech. Among others, Member of Bottlagari Union, Mr. Rubiul Islam, spoke among others. The whole opening ceremony was conducted by Sharp’s staff. Shafiqul Alam.
