IU admission tests rescheduled

The admission tests for the undergraduate courses for the 2017-18 academic session of Islamic University (IU), Kushtia will start on December 1 instead of 25 November and the application dateline extended to 19 November instead of 10 November. IU Registrar office sources said. The decision came from an emergency meeting of the university admission test committee with its vice chancellor Professor Md. Harun-Ur-Rashid Askari in the chair, IU Registrar- in- Charge SM Abdul Latif said. IU Pro-vice chancellor professor M Shahinoor Rahman, treasurer professor M Selim Toha and Acting Registrar SM Abdul Latif, among others, were present at the meeting. According to the fresh schedule, the admission tests will continue from 1 December to 5 December. Meanwhile, the university authorities also extended the date of online application process until 19 November, he added. Mymensingh SL leader injured, 3 held

A case has been filed against 20 people, including Joint Convener Rasel Pathan, in connection with the injuries to a Swechchhasebak League (SL) leader in the city recently . The plaintiff of the case, Shah Alam Masum, Joint Convener of the injured city Swechchhasebak League, (35) , elder brother Nazmul Hassan Jony, Said the accused were identified following the CCTV footage. The accused in the case are Joint Convener of city Jubo League Rasel Pathan (36), Rajib Khan (30), Zahid Hasan Shamim alias Kylya Shamim (28), Basheer Mondal (27), Sri Suman Sarkar (29), Saddam (25), Nirob Chowdhury Nayan (28), Sree Deepak Sarkar Rajiv (29), Parvez (28), Sri Haribal (25), Mota (30), Rajiv (26), Ashraful Islam alias Johnny (28), Mana (25), Russell (24) , Jhantu (25), Farid alias Farid (26), Manta (42) and Moin (27). On Monday (October 31st), the joint convener of Mymensingh city SL was hacked to death in Saheb Quarter area. After being admitted to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital, he was sent to Dhaka for better treatment. He is now being treated at Pangu Hospital. His condition is critical. On Friday organized a rally by District SL in protest against the attack, without the arrest of all the accused within 48 hours of the rally, it is announced that strict programs like block and strike will be observed. Kotwali Police Station OC Md. Kamrul Islam said three people named Sourav, Haribul and Mostafa were involved in the attack, were arrested. The others will also be caught.
 Two held, arms seized from Benapole Port

Akram Hossain, 35 and Jalal Uddin, 38 of Khalshi village under Benapole port police station were detained by the port police along with a pistol, six rounds of bullets, two magazines and a motorbike at around 7pm on Friday Arrested Jalal claimed to local journalists that an unidentified man gave them the arms to reach those to Benapole port paying Tk 500. Firoj Uddin, officer in-charge (investigation), Benapole port police station told that tipped off the police recovered the arms and ammunitions after arresting the youths from Krishnapur village under the port police station.
Income Tax Fair begins in Sylhet

A Seven-day long income tax fair began enthusiastically at Abul Mal Abdul Muhit Kira Complex area in Sylhet region on Wednesday, presided over by Sylhet regional income tax commissioner Md.Abu Daud. Imran Ahmed MP spoke as the chief guest in the inauguration of the fair whilePresident Of SCCI Khandaker Shiper Ahmed ,MCCI President Hasin Ahmed,SMP DC Foysal Mahmud,ACC Niyajur Rahman,President of Sylhet Tax lawer Association Adv Mrintunjoy Dor Vula was present as special guest.In the inaugural programme, the speakers urged the all concerned of the country to come forward ensuring income tax to the government so that the country goes forward with the development.
