Transparency in climate change funds demanded

A human chain in Jhenaidah demands transparency, accountability, mass participation and good governance in climate change funds. Committee for concern citizens (CC) Jhenaidah unit organized an one-hour human chain at Jhenaidah post office intersection of Sunday morning. A several hundred people from all walks of life participated in the human chain. CCC local unit president Abu Taher, members Professor NM Shahajalal, human rights activist Aminur Rahman Tuku, Haider Ali, Padma Samajkalyan sangshta executive director Habibur Rahman among others spoke during the human chain. The speakers said, the 233rd. conference on United Nations Framework on Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) was scheduled on November 6 to 17 at Bonn in Germany. Climate change funds allocation, adaptation, its utilization and transparency in monitoring and accountability will take place during the time.
Follow up public hearing meeting held in Charghat

`Raise your voice” , a follow-up public hearing meeting was held at Charghat Upazila Parishad in Rajshahi on Sunday morning. A two -day long the public hearing meeting organised by the Anti-Corruption Commission and Transparency International Bangladesh . The follow-up meeting was held with the assistance of Sochaton Nagrik Committee Natore and Charghat Corruption Prohibition Committee. On due time Chief Guest Dr. Nasir Uddin Commissioner of ACC said that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has been working relentlessly for rooting out the corruption from all sectors. Presided over by UNO Asraful Islam , it was addressed among others by Abdul Aziz Bhuiyan, Director of Rajshahi ACC , Prof Rafiqul Alam, Tahmina Khatun Vice Chairman Charghat Upazila, Senior Assistant Police Super (Charghat Circle) Rafiqul Alam, OC Nibaran Chandra Barman, Charghat AL General Secretary Fakrul Islam, Joint Secretary and Sarada Union Chairman Hasanuzzaman , Upazila Health Officer Doctor Habibur Rahman, Pally Bidyut-2 DGM Abdul Kader.
Jamaat leader arrested in Rampal

Rampal Thana Police arrested Acting President of Ramapl Upazilla Jamayat Amir Sk. Naser Uddin recently . Police arrested him on 27 October in an special operation . He is the son of Mohiuddin Shaihk of Barni village of the Upazilla. At that time six others fled away from the spot. Being as a Plaintiff, SI of Rampal Thana Sanjib Gosh filed a case under Special Power Act of 1974 under section 15(3)25 against seven along with Naser and unidentified more 20/25 accused. The accused are Saiful Munsi (37) , son of Agit Munsi of Barni village, Khan Rejaul Karim (45) , son of Khan Amzad Hossain of Alipur Village, Mollick Abdul Hai (55), son of late Dalil Uddin Mollick of Baripara village , Mojammel Hossain (35), son of Moslem Uddin of Kalika Proshad Village , Sk. Saroar Hossain (27) son of Sk. Abu Jafar of Debipur village, Israfil Hossain (30), son of Korban ali of Sreefaltala Village . Rampal Thana Police said that getting secret information that some miscreants gathered in Barni area to occur interlining activities , SI Sanjib Ghosh raided an operation of the respective area of the Upazilla at 8 p.m..
