Quiz competition for students on road safety held

A daylong quiz competition for the students on road safety awareness organised by BRAC’s Road Safety programme and Advocacy for Social Change was held at Polanpur Islamia Fazil Madrasha’s hall room, Polanpur Narsingdi Sadar upazila on Sunday. President of the District Correspondent Welfare Association Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha (BSS) Mohammad Abu Taher attended the function as Chief Guest while principal of the Polnpur Fazal Madrasha Mohammad Mojibur Rahman presided over it. The function was addressed among others by Social Communicator of BRAC Promoting Safe Road project Parvej Kairi, Member of the Managing Committee and lecturer of Polanpur Islamia Fazil Madrasha Sultan Mahamud, senior teachers of the madrasha Abdur R ahman, Abul Kashem and Muksuda khatun. A tolal of 110 students of the Madrasha took part in the quiz competition, After the quiz competition demonstration and an animation show on road safety awareness arranged for the students .
Cattle trader murdered in Kurigram

A cattle trader was murdered at Lathir Khamar village of Dharnibari union under Ulipur upazila of Kurigram district at 9:30 pm on Saturday .The victim was identified as Badsha Mandol, 51, son of late Akkas Ali Mandol of the Lathir Khamar village under the upazila.Tajedar Alam Faruki, Sub-Inspector (SI) of Ulipur police station, said some miscreants stabbed to murder near Malatibari mosque of the union at around 9:15 pm while he was returning home. Locals informed to police immediately. Police rushed to the spot. Badsha died on the road at around 9:30 pm while he was taking into Ulipur Hospital in a critical condition.”The body was sent to Kurigram Sadar Hospital for autopsy on Sunday morning. We cannot learn reason of the murder.
Drug peddler held in N’ganj
NARAYANGANJ: Police arrested an alleged drug peddler in possession of 1050 pieces of Yaba tablet from Dharmaganj area in Fatullah upazila on Saturday. The arrested was identified as Mizanur Rahman,45, son of Abdul Kader, a resident of the area.Fatullah Police Station sub-inspector Arafat said on secret information, a team of police conducted a drive at the house of Mizanur and arrested him on Saturday morning.Police also recovered the 1050 pieces of Yaba tablet after searching his house. A case was filed in this connection, reports UNB.
BNP founding anniversary observed in C’nawabganj

BNP’s founding anniversary was observed in a befitting manner in Chapainawabganj on Monday. Chapainawabganj Sadar upazila and municipality units of BNP arranged colourful procession and discussion meeting on the occasion. The procession was taken out from Nimtala square in the town in the morning. After parading the main roads of the town, the procession ended at Shahid Satu Hall Square where a discussion meeting was held. Among others, central organizing secretary of BNP and former law maker Harunur Rashid, president of Chapainawabganj sadar upazila unit Tosiqul Islam Tosi and general secretary of the Chapainawabganj municipality unit Advocate Moyej Uddin spoke in the meeting.
