‘Drug peddler’ held with 1.5 kg heroin in C’nawabganj
CHAPAINAWABGANJ: Members of Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) arrested an alleged drug peddler along with 1.5 kg heroin from Baroroshia in Sadar upazila yesterday. The arrestee was Mozammel Haq, 55, son of Gias Uddin of the village.Tipped off, a team of Rab-5 raided the house of Mozammel and recovered 1.5 kg heroin, kept in a bag, from the house around 8 pm, said Major Ashraf, Commanding officer of Rab-5. The elite force members arrested Mozammel in this connection, reports UNB.
Construction worker electrocuted in Jessore
JESSORE: A construction worker died from electrocution and another suffered severe injuries at Majhidpur village in Keshabpur upazila on Thursday afternoon.Locals said Abdul Majid, 33, son of late Abdul Gafur Sheikh and Babul, 20, son of Abdul Hamid, got electrocuted while working at the house of one Atiar Rahman, a resident of the village.Later, witnesses rescued the duo and took them to Keshabpur Upazila Health Complex where doctors declared Abdul Majid dead. Babul was referred to Khulna Medical College Hospital as his condition deteriorated, reports UNB.

The Chief Guest, Raj Kumar Poddar Raju, the renowned Industrialist of Saidpur was present as the chief guest. Saidpur Municipal Panel Mayor-1 Ziaul Haq Zia was present as Special Guest. Chairman of the Sitara Union Parishad, 8 of Chirirbandar upazila of Dinajpur. Mokarram Hossain Shah and Rajshahi Krishi Unnayan Bank Saidpur Branch Manager Md. Abdus Salam Khan were also present there. Basic Bank Limited’s Assistant General Manager and Chief of Saidpur Branch Ikhwanul Islam presided over the distribution program and delivered welcome speech. BASIC Bank Limited, Saidpur Branch Operation Manager ATGM Golam Faruque, borrowers, farmers, well-known journalists, invited guests and other officials of the bank were also present on the occasion. Basic Bank officer Md. Sajeduzzaman presented the debt distributed program.
At the end of the program the Chief Guest, Industrialist Raj Kumar Poddar Raju inaugurated the loan distribution program by distributing grants of 70 thousand taka for agricultural loans to Abdul Gafur. borrowers, the farmer of Champatoli of Fatejongpur union under Dinajpur’s Chirirbandar upazila. In the program, agricultural loans of Tk 10 lakh have been distributed between 10 and 12 farmers. On the occasion, grants of agricultural loans of Tk 60,000 to 1 lakh were distributed among the borrowers.

PABNA: Members of Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) in separate drives arrested two arms traders from Ishwardi upazila recently . Ruhul Amin, company commander of Rab-12, said this at a press briefing on Monday noon.On secret information, an elite force team arrested Abdullah al Mamun from Moddho Aronkola area and Mafizul Islam Mukul from Arzu market here at night. The Rab men also recovered four foreign pistols, one foreign gun, nine rounds of bullets, five magazines and some drugs from their possession, said the official, reports UNB.
