Expatriate electrocuted in Sylhet

An expatriate man died from electrocution in Balaganj upazila on Wednesday evening.
The deceased was identified as Anwar Hossain Sazzad, 38, son of Masuk Mia at Rupia village in Sadar union of the upazila. Sazzad got electrocuted at his house in the evening. He was then rushed to Sylhet Osmani Medical College Hospital in critical condition where doctors declared him dead. Sazzad, a father of four children, was set to return Saudi Arabia on October 20.
Elderly woman killed in Bhola road crash
BHOLA: A woman was killed and 30 others were injured in a road accident in Bangla Bazar area on Bhola-Char Fashion road yesterday morning. The deceased was identified as Amena Begum, 65, hailing from Anjur Haat of the upazila.Fire service and witnesses said Bhola sadar-bound bus of Mosafir Paribahan from Char Fashion skidded off the road and fell into the roadside pond in the area around 9:00 am as its driver lost control over the steering, leaving an elderly woman dead on the spot and 30 other passengers injured.On information, fire service team rushed to the spot and sent the injured to Bhola Sadar Hospital, reportsUNB.
Electrician killed in Barisal road accident
BARISAL: An electrician was killed in a road accident at Choumohoni in Uzirpur upazila on Saturday night. Police said the accident took place when a battery-run auto-rickshaw collided with a motorcycle, leaving motorbike driver Titu Hawladar, 36, a resident of Dhamsar village, dead on the spot and the pillion rider injured. Titu was an electrician by profession, said Helal Uddin, officer-in-charge (Investigation) of Uzirpur Police Station, adding police recovered the body and sent it to hospital morgue for autopsy, reports UNB.
2 forest robbers held with arms in Sundarbans

Members of Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) arrested two members of a forest robber gang along with six firearms and 16 round of bullets from Jongrar Khal area in Dakop upazila in Khulna district on Sunday. The arrestees are Md Ripon Sardar alias Dudh Ripon, 35, son of Md Mahmud Sardar of Ramjaipur village in Rmpal upazila of the district and Md Abu Sayeed Gazi, 32, son of Md Abdul Gazi of Chunkuri village of Shamnagar upazila in Satkhira district. They are the members of notorious Mostfa alias Mas Mamun Bahini, said Lieutenant Colonel Md Anwaruzzaman of Barisal Rab-8. Tipped off, a team of the elite force conducted a drive in the area in the morning while the robbers were preparing to commit robbery and arrested the duo. However, their associates managed to flee. They also recovered six firearms and 16 rounds of bullets from the spot.
2 boys rescued while being trafficked to India
SATKHIRA: Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) rescued two boys while they were being trafficked away from Kolaroya border area to India on Saturday night. The rescued boys were identified as Tanvir Hasan, 12, son of Iqbal Hasan, and Nirjon Adhikar, 12, son of Shaymol Adhikar, residents at Godagari village in Kolaroya municipality and students of class VI of GKMK Pilot High School. BGB members, led by BOP Lance Nayek Babul Mollah, said that acting on a tip-off they operated a raid in the area and rescued the boys from Vadialir Kalibari border in Sonabaria union at night. Sensing the presence of BGB team, the trafficker, a van puller, managed to flee away.
The rescued were later handed over to their respective parents in presence of Sonabaria UP chairman, he added, reports UNB.
Drug peddler arrested with hemp, motorcycle
BENAPOLE: Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) arrested a suspected drug trader with 10 kilograms of Indian hemp and a motorcycle at Sarbanghuda border village in Benapole on Wednesday night. The arrestee is Azizul Islam, 40, son of Abdus Samad of Raghunathpur village of Benapole. Lieutenant Colonel Ariful Haque, commanding officer of BGB-49 battalion, said on information, a team of BGB members conducted a drive in the area and arrested him along with his motorbike. They later recovered the consignment of hemp from his possession.A case was filed in this connection, reports UNB.
