Int’l Day for Disaster Reduction observed

Kishoreganj District Administration, POPI and BRAC jointly arranged a rally, discussion, postering, art competition and fire service life saving rescue exhibition marking the International Day for Disaster Reduction-2017 on Friday. A discussion on ‘Home safe, Home’ held at Govt. Gurudayal College Campus on Friday morning. Deputy Commissioner Md. Azimuddin Biswas attended as chief guest while ADC (G) & D.S Tarafder Md. Akhter Jamil in the chair. It was address among others by Sadar UNO Abdullah-al Masu, D.R.O & Megistrate Md. Arifuzzaman, NDC Nazmul Haque Sumon, Women Leader Bilkis Begum, Deputy Assistant Director of Fire Service & Civil Defence Md. Dulla Miah, Assistant Professor Md. ‘Pavement for Pedestrians’ campaign ends in Saidpur

 ‘Pavement for pedestrians’ a 5- day campaign ended with endless efforts and enthusiasm in Saidpur, Nilphamari. A five-day awareness campaign was concluded on Saturday which was started on 10th October. In these five days campaign evryone was informed to clear the footpath for the pedestrians. After this, legal steps will be taken to clear the footpath. The program was inaugurated on 10 October by the Organizer of the awarness program Upazila Nirbahi Officer of Saidpur Md. Bazlur Rashid. On the ending day, the procession starting from Saidpur Municipality, going round Shahid Tulsiram Road, Shaheed Dr. Zikrul Haq Road, Shaheed Dr. Shamsul Haque Road, Saidpur Press Club and ended at Madina Crossing . Students, Teachers, Businessmen, print and electronic Media, Online activists and numerous well-wishers participated in the rally. Syedpur Upazila Parishad Chairman Moksedul Momin, Mayor of Saidpur Municipality Amzad Hossain Sarkar, UNO, Bazlur Rashid, President of Saidpur Chamber of Commerce Idris Ali, Sports Organizer Jobaidur Rahman Shaheen, Municipal Councilors and others spokes at the street-corner meeting. Campaign entrepreneur UNO Bazlur Rashid said, after the 5-day campaign we are too much disappointed.
School field submerged at Gafargaon

Kharua -Borail High School and KaharuaBarail Govt Primary fileds are submerged with stagnant water for six to seven months in a year, at Gafargaon under Mymensingh. As a result, the students are deprived of playing games and sports. , regular exercises and assembly. Two schools were established in 1952 on 92 decimel of land. It is learnt that about 75% decimel fields of the schools are submerged with May/June to October months every year. There is only one playgrounds in this area about 1200 students for the two institutions . Besides , the school field is the only playground for 2/3 villages.
Many times the students are using this fields and suffering from scotching and water borne diseases. They are also suffering from most time and became the victim of various diseases. During that time many students are not interested to come to schools. Besides during the new building in 2006 the flowing water from the fields could not move. Afterwards , the schools authority has been trying to remove miserable condition stagnant water from the fields for 10 years. They are going to different high officials to solve the matter. The local administration is also trying to take necessary steps for removal immersed in water from the school field.
