Three civilians were killed and 23 others wounded after suspected rebels Thursday lobbed a grenade at a motorcade of a local government minister in Indian-controlled Kashmir, police said.
Police said the attack occurred as the minister’s motorcade passed though the southern Tral town. Three pedestrians, including a woman, were killed and 10 others wounded, said police director-general S.P.Vaid. He said eight paramilitary soldiers, four police and a government engineer were also hurt. The minister escaped unhurt.
Broadcast journo killed in Tripura

An Indian TV news reporter was abducted and killed while covering a protest rally in the remote northeastern state of Tripura, the second journalist to be killed in the country this month, police said Thursday. Shantanu Bhowmick, who was working for “Dinraat” or “Day and Night” news broadcaster, was reporting on a road blockade by a political party representing indigenous tribal people when he was abducted late Wednesday, said state police chief A. K. Shukla.
China lifts 10-yr travel ban on feminist activist

China has lifted a 10-year travel ban on a feminist activist who was jailed for more than a month in 2015 after organising a campaign against sexual harassment.
Wu Rongrong plans to fly to Hong Kong on Sunday to pursue a master’s degree in law in the semi-autonomous city, which has a separate legal system and border controls.
EU chief to meet UK’s PM on Tuesday
