Tech education plays role to reduce unemployment

Professor Dr Mustafizur Rahman, Chairman, Bangladesh Technical Education Board has emphasized the need of technical education to reduce unemployment problem in the country. ‘The whole world is now developed its manpower through technical education,’ he added. Prof Mustafiz was speaking at reception ceremony welcoming to newly admitted students at Jessore Muslim Aid Institute of Technology on Thursday. Arif Noor, Principal of the institution chaired the programme. It was attended among others by Noor-e- Elaihi, deputy secretary, Bangladesh Technical Education Board, Bijoy Kumar Ghosh, deputy inspector of the board and Mahbubul Alam Lovelu, executive editor, Daily Spondon.
BGB recovers medical equipment
Border Guard Bangladesh men seized smuggled medical equipment wroth around Tk 21, 76,250 raiding an abandoned house near Benapole check post on Friday orning.Lieutenant Colonel Ariful Hoque, commanding officer, 49 Border Guard Battalion told that tipped off BGB personnel led by Habilder Aziz Ahmad seized the medical equipment smuggled from India to Bangladesh at around 10am on Friday. The goods were deposited to the customs after filing a case with Benapole port police station. None was arrested in this regard.
Awareness to prevent Chikungunya stressed
RAJSHAHI: Speakers at an advocacy workshop here yesterday called upon people concerned to create awareness among people to check mosquito-borne Dengue and Chikungunya fevers. They viewed that mass awareness is important to prevent the diseases as the Aedes mosquito usually breeds in clean stagnant water. Civil Surgeon office organised the workshop at its conference hall with the district level officials and others concerned discussing ways and means on how to prevent the diseases. Divisional Director of Health Dr Abdus Sobhan addressed the meeting as the chief guest with Civil Surgeon Dr Samajit Kumar Saha in the chair. Additional Deputy Commissioner Sabet Ali, Assistant Superintendent of Police Abu Farhad and Brac District Representative Jahedul Islam, among others, spoke at the event. During keynote presentation, Deputy Civil Surgeon Dr Enamul Haque said Chikungunya had become a matter of great concern for all, but there was no need to be panicked about the situation. He said symptoms of the disease appear between four and seven days after a person is bitten by any infected mosquito. Chikungunya is featured by an abrupt onset of high fever frequently accompanied by joint pain, repots BSS.
17,012 Panchagarh flood-hit farmers to get agri-inputs
PANCHAGARH: A total of 17,012 farmers will get various agri-inputs to recover their losses caused by recent flood in all five upazilas of the district. Local officials at Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE) said the government has allocated Taka 2, 03, 27000 for 17,012 flood affected farmers here. As part of government’s post-flood agri-rehabilitation incentives, 6750 farmers will get 2-kgs of maize seeds , 20-kgs DAP and 10-kgs MOP fertilizers for one bigha of land while 6750 farmers will get 20-kgs of wheat seeds, 20- kgs DAP and 10-kgs MOP fertilizers for one bigha of land. Besides 3,512 farmers will get necessary agri-seeds and fertilizers. Deputy Director of Panchagarh DAE Md Samchul Huque told BSS today they have been distributing different agri-inputs among flood-affected farmers in the district, repots BSS.
