Genocide in Myanmar protested

Several thousand people, under the banner of Imam Parishad, rallied in Jessore town protesting at the genocide on Rohingya Muslims in Myanmar on Saturday morning while several hundred people, under the banner of National Democratic Front (NDF), staged demonstration in the town at noon protesting at the ethnic cleansing. The town witnessed traffic congestion during the protests. Maulana Anwarul Karim, president, Jessore district unit Imam Parishad, Maulana Rafiqul Islam, Maulana Hamidul Islam, Maulana Habibur Rahman, Mufti Md Yeahia, Maulana Nairullah, Hafiz Maulana Abdullah, Mufti Shamsur Rahman and Mufti Kamrul Anwar attended the rally arranged by the Imam Parishad while Hafizur Rahman, general secretary, NDF, Jessore district unit, Ashutosh Biswas, vice -president, Samiran Biswas, ogranising secretary spoke at the rally of NDF. Speakers in both the rallies raised their voices against genocide in Myanmar and urged the world community to take steps against ethnic cleansing, genocide, raping and burning houses owned by Rohingya Muslims in Myanmar. ‘What is happening in Myanmar is inhuman, crime against humanity,’ the speakers said.
Special prayers held for Rohingyas
Special prayers were held at different mosques in Jessore district seeking the almighty’s blessing for the persecuted Rohingya Muslims. The prayers were held after Juma prayers.’May Allah help the Rohingyas, save them,’ Imams of different mosques said while seeking grace of the creator.  
Relief goods distributed in Sirajganj

North-West Power Generation Company distributed relief good among 200 flood victims of Soyadabad Union under Sadar Sirajganj Upazila on September 15. NWPGC Director Haroonor Rashid and Project Manager Showjun distributed the relief goods. Soyadabad Union Porished Chairman Nobidul Islam was present on the occasion.
CI sheets, Tk 37.05 lakh distributed in Jamalpur
JAMALPUR: District Administration distributed 1,235 bundles Corrugated Iron (CI) sheets and cash money Taka 37.05 lakh among the flood victims in the district. According to District Relief and Rehabilitation Office sources, the CI sheets and cash money were distributed among 617 poor families who lost their houses by the recent flood.Each of the families got nine feet long two bundles of CI sheets and cash Taka 6,000 for erecting their houses.Upazila wise relief allotment is: 220 bundle CI sheets and Taka 6.60 lakh in Dewanganj, 260 bundles CI sheets and Taka 7.80 lakh in Islampur, 155 bundles CI sheets and Taka 4.65 lakh in Jamalpur Sadar, 170 bundles CI sheets and Taka 5.10 lakh in Madarganj, 170 bundles CI sheets and Taka 5.10 lakh in Melandaha, 170 bundles CI sheets and Taka 5.10 lakh in Sarishabari and 90 bundles CI sheets and Taka 2.70 lakh in Bakshiganj, reports BSS.
Passengers suffer for shortage of ferries
MANIKGANJ: Passengers are facing immense sufferings as they have to wait at Daulatdia and Patuaria ferry terminals for hours to cross the Padma River due to shortage of ferries.
Around 1000 vehicles remain stranded on the both sides of the river for crossing. Ferry services are being hampered on the route for last 2-3days as six ferries out of 19 ferries went out of order. About 4-km tailback was seen on the Paturia side in Manikganj on Friday. Azmal Hossain, DGM of BIWTC (Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation) in Aricha sector, around 500 goods-laden trucks got stuck at Paturia side and around 200 hundred trucks at Daulatdia side.
