Teachers place demands to Minister in Jessore

Non- MPO unfed teachers and other employees of different educational institutions that include colleges, schools and madrassahs in Jessore and Khulna areas placed their demands to education minister Nurul Islam Nahid in front of Jessore Press Club while he was returning Jessore Circuit House after attending a programme at Jessore New Town at around 11:25am on Thursday, Akramuzzaman, Jessore Correspondent, Chanel I, who is an eyewitness told. Akram told that non-MPO teachers and staffs halted the minister to press their demands for around 15 minutes. Shahidul Islam, general secretary, Jessore region, non-MPO Teachers- Staffs Federation told that they were compelled to lay down on Mujib Sarak in front of Jessore Press Club as the education minister did not keep his words given to us several times earlier.
Unidentified body recovered in Sylhet

An unidentified dead body was recovered from Sylhet -Sunamganj bypass Road on Wednesday. police said, the local people having seen the dead body found on the Road side of bypass area and informed Dakshin Surma Thana. Being informed, Police went to the spot and recovered the body. He may be of thirty years of age . Police being recovered the dead body sent it Sylhet Osmani Hospital for autopsy. OC of Dakshin Surma police station Sha Harunur Rashid confirmed the case .
One to die for murder in Kishoreganj

A court here on Wednesday sentenced one person get hanged till death for the charge for killing his daughter under Bhairab upazila on 3 April 2013. The convicted person is Md. Abul Hossain ,son of Nur Ali Mia of village Shambupur under Bhairab Upazila. Additional District & Session Judge Md. Shajahan Kabir handed down the verdict.
As per the prosecution, the convicts charge against killed by his daughter Sumia (2). In this connection a case was filed Bhairab Police Station. After investigation police submitted charge sheet against him. The case was conducted by Assistant Public Prosecutor Syed Shajahan and Adv Ashok Sharker for accused.
Bumper Aman production likely in Panchagarh
PANCHAGARH: Farmers in the district are expecting bumper production of Transplanted (T) Aman Paddy during this current season. Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE) official said consecutive rain for the last few weeks created favorable condition for the transplanted Aman production in district. DAE set a target to cultivate T-Aman paddy on a total of 96,425 hectares of land in the district this year. Later, the target fixed by the department was exceeded bringing more 165 hectares of land under the cultivation due to favorable climatic condition. Now the plants gained new life and are growing well and the scenario of paddy field has turned into greenish look. The growers are so much busy in nurturing the paddy field with the hopes of getting desired production of the crops. Deputy Director of DAE Shamsul Haque said availability of fertilizers and other agri inputs have been ensured during the current Aman season to help the farmers grow T-Aman paddy successfully in the district, reports BSS.
Extracurricular activities to save youths from social menace stressed
RANGPUR: Academicians at a discussion have laid emphasis on enhancing extracurricular activities to save the youths from social menace such as militancy and terrorism. They viewed this in the discussion arranged at launching ceremony of the three-day ‘Literature, Culture and Indoor Sports Competitions- 2017’ at Heyat Mamud Bhaban of Begum Rokeya University, Rangpur (BRUR) here yesterday afternoon. The Department of Economics is organising the three-day competitions for students of the department to remove all sorts of social menaces by enhancing literary, cultural, sports and other extracurricular activities, a press release said yesterday. Presided over by Head of the Department of Economics Professor Dr Md Morshed Hossain, Dean of the Faculty of Business Studies of the university Professor Md Ferdous Rahman attended the discussion on the inaugural day as the chief guest. Administrator of the Public Relations, Information and Publication Division of BRUR Professor Dr Sorifa Salowa Dina, Director of the Planning, Development and Works Division Professor Dr RM Hafizur Rahman and Proctor Professor Dr Abu Kalam Md Farid Ul Islam addressed the event as special guests, reports BSS.
