BGB arrests two, recovers wine , phensidyl in Jessore

Raiding two separate places under Sharsha upazila in Jessore, Border Guard Bangladesh personnel arrested two suspected smugglers along with five bottles of wine, 174 bottles of Phensedyl, a sharp weapon, a magazine of a pistol and some other smuggled goods, Lieutenant Colonel Ariful Hoque, commanding officer, 49 Border Guard Battalion said. The BGB official told that raiding Ghiba frontier under Benapole port police station the BGB men arrested listed smuggler Nazrul Islam of Ghiba village under Benapole port police station and seized 5 bottles of wine and 80 bottles of Phensedyl at around 9:15 pm on Tuesday. In another raid, the BGB men captured Imad Uddin of Kanyadah village under Sharsha upazila in Jessore along with 94 bottles of Phensedyl, a sharp weapon, a magazine of a pistol and some other smuggled goods from Kanyadah Bazar at around 10am on Wednesday.
Tk 2.29cr incentive for 19,710 farmers in Jamalpur
JAMALPUR: Agriculture department has taken a post flood incentive programme in Kharif and Rabi season in the district this year. Local Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE) office sources said a total of 19,710 small and marginal farmers will get the incentive for cultivating six crops-black gram, wheat, maize, mustard, BT-Brinjal and sesame. Under the programme, a farmer will get incentive for cultivating one bigha of land. DAE sources said Tk 2.29 has been allocated to implement the programme. Deputy Director of DAE, Md Abu Hanif, said in phases the incentive programme will be implemented. He said this Kharif season-2 farmers will get incentive on black gram while next Rabi season on wheat, maize, mustard and BT-Brinjal and kharif-1 season for sesame cultivation, reports BSS.
BDRCS distributes relief among flood victims in Rangpur
RANGPUR: Bangladesh Red Crescent Society (BDRCS) recently completed distribution of relief goods among 651 flood-affected families of five flood-hit unions under four upazilas in the district, said a press release. Rangpur unit of BDRCS distributed the relief materials during past three days with assistance of Grameen Phone to mitigate sufferings of the flood-affected people. The relief goods were distributed at separate ceremonies arranged at Tepamadhupur and Chhawla unions under Kawnia upazila on Wednesday, Kolkond union under Gangachara upazila on Thursday, Emadpur union under Mithapukur upazila and Tukuria union under Pirganj upazila recently. Each of the 250 flood-hit families of Kolkond union under Kawnia upazila received 5-kilogram flattened rice, one-kilogram sugar, 500-gram ‘shuji’, one-packet toast, eight pieces of oral saline, three pieces of water purifying tablets, one jar and one tarpaulin sheet.
Case filed over Patuakhali triple murder
PATUAKHALI: A case was filed against a number of unidentified people in connection with the triple murder at Sailbunia village in Galachipa upazila recently. Idris Molla, brother of the victim Delwar Molla, filed the case with Galachipa Police Station in the morning, said police.
Meanwhile, Additional Deputy Inspector General of Barisal police range, Akram Hossain, visited the spot in the morning. Earlier on Wednesday, police recovered the slaughtered bodies of a couple-Delwar Molla, 55, his wife Parvin Begum, 40, and their adopted daughter Kajoli Begum, 18 —.from their house at Sailabunia village in Galachipa upazila. Locals went to the house in the afternoon after smelling bad odour coming from it and found the slaughtered bodies lying there, said Additional Police Super Mustafizur Rahman. Later, police recovered the bodies and sent those to hospital for autopsy, he added.
Miscreants tried to torch the victims’ house, police said adding that Delwar’s elder brother Hossain Molla’s son was killed in the similar fashion four months back. All the three victims were made witnesses in the murder case, said police.
