Youth stabbed in Jessore

Miscreants stabbed a youth at the main entry of Jessore Central Jail on Thursday afternoon. The critically injured youth is identified as Rana alias Babu,32, driver of an easy bike and son of late Abul Hossain of Raipara in Jessore town. Rahima Begum, mother of the victim told journalists that Babu was rushed to Jessore General Hospital by the locals after she was stabbed by 4-5 miscreants at the main entry of Jessore Central Jail at around 3pm on Thursday. ‘ he was coming out from the jail compound after visiting a prisoner at that time,’ she added. Referring to physicians, Josna Parvin, nurse of the hospital told that that the patient was referred to Dhaka as his condition was going to be deteriorated. Sub inspector Abdur Rahim, in-charge, New Town police camp told that the police were conducting drives to arrest the miscreants.

HABIGANJ: Police, in regular drives from Thursday night to this morning, arrested 25 accused, including 17 warranted accused, from different areas of the district. Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Nazim Uddin said they were picked up from different areas of the district on different charges. Several cases, including charges of subversive activities, are pending with different police stations against the arrested persons, the ASP added. The arrested were sent to jail, reports BSS.
Cop dies in Netrakona road accident
NETRAKONA: A constable was killed in a road accident in Satarosree area on Netrakona-Barhatta road under Sadar upazila of the district on Thursday night. The deceased was identified as Shahinur Alam, 32, a constable of Fakirer Bazar police camp. Shahinur was going to Netrakona riding on a motorcycle from his work station Fakirer Bazar police camp, said Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Netrakona Sadar Thana Abu Tahar Dawan. “When he reached Satarosree area around 9:30 pm, an auto-rickshaw knocked down his motorcycle, leaving the constable injured severely,” OC added. Later, locals rushed him to Netrakona Sadar Hospital where on-duty doctors declared him dead, the OC said, reports BSS.
3 held with 832 Yaba at Benapole
Benapole, Aug 25 (UNB) – Police in a drive detained three suspected drug peddlers along with 832 pieces of Yaba pills at Bhoberber village here on Friday. Police identified the detainees as Abdul Malek, 34, son of Nur Islam, Tutul Mia, 29, son of Abu Taher, and Kashem Ali, 34, son of Nazir Ali, all residents of Boroachhra village. A case was filed, reports BSS.
Gangraped housewife commits suicide in Chuadanga
CHUADANGA: A housewife reportedly killed herself by taking poison after being raped by a group of miscreants at Bhogail Bagadi village in Alamdanga upazila early Thursday. The deceased was identified as Poly, wife of Enamul Hoque, a resident of Olid Fakir of Bhogail Bagadi village. Enamul has been missing since the incident, causing police to name him as their top suspect. Locals said Enamul married Poly, daughter of Badal Mollah of Moheshpur village, three months back although he has another wife. Enamul used to live in a rented house in the village with his second wife. A group of 10/15 miscreants picked up Enamul and Poly forcibly from their house around 2am, said officer-in-charge of Alamdanga Police Station Akram Hossain. Later, they gang raped the housewife and brought the couple back to their house with severe injuries in the morning. Following the incident, Poly took her life by having poison several hours later. On information, police recovered the body, reports UNB.
