Road accident kills one in Kurigram

One person died and six others were injured in a road accident which took place at China bazaar under Rajarhat upazila in Kurigram district at 12am on Sunday where an Auto rickshaw collided head on with a tractor.Local sources said a passenger loaded Teesta bound auto rickshaw from Rajarhat upazila collided head on with a tractor from the opposite direction at China bazaar. One Monoranjan 55 was killed on the spot. Another six injured were admitted to rajarhat Upazila Health Complex.Officer-in-charge of Rajarhat police station Moynul Haque admitted the incident and said the tractor was taken to thana.
3 Jamaat leaders arrested in Muladi

Police arrested three leaders of Jamaat E Islami Bangladesh including municipal secretary in Muladi of Barisal on Sunday morning for alleged planning of sabotage. The arrestees were identified as Abul Hossain alias Babul Master, municipal secretary and teacher of Char Lakkhipur School, Sharifuddin, Sadar union president, Mawlana Abdul Malek, Nazirpur union president of JIB and teacher of Ranarpur madrasa. Md. Alauddin, Muladi police station officer in charge, the JIB leaders were arrested from the house of late Mawlana Golam Hossain at Hosnabad village under Muladi upazila at 11:00 AM Sunday while they were engaged in conspiracy meeting for doing sabotages. The arrestees would be sent to jail after producing before the court lodging a case, the OC Muladi PS told.
Janmastami celebrated in Barisal
Members of the Hindu community celebrated ‘ Shuva Janmastami’, one of their major religious festivals marking the birth anniversary of Lord Sri Krishna in the Barisal city on Sunday with due religious devour and enthusiasm. The day’s program began with bringing out a colorful traditional Janmastami processions held at 10:30 am with musical instruments, placards, banners, festoons, traditional motifs, displays and drama scenes on events of life and works of the Lord Krishna. Advocate Talukdar Md. Yunus, lawmaker and district Awami League secretary was chief guest of the programmes. Rakhal Chandra Dey , president Dharma Rakkhini Sava, presided over the inaugural function of the festival held at Line Road-Sadar Road crossing of the city.
One lakh Indian rupees seized in C’nawabganj

BGB members arrested one person and seized Indian 1,00,000 Indian rupees from Binodpur under Shibganj upazila in Chapainawabganj district on Saturday evening. The arrested person has been identified as Durul Huda, 35, son of Alhaj Md. Mohsin Ali of Binodpur (Sadartola) village of Shibganj upazila. BGB said, acting on secret information, a patrol team of BGB of Telkupi Border Out Post (BOP) was waiting at the aforesaid area at around 6-10 pm. Seeing a motor cycle coming there, BGB tried to halt it but the motorcyclist tried to run away leaving the motor cycle. At this, the BGB members chased him and held him. After searching him, they recovered the Indian currency.
Freshers’ reception held at Balugram Adarsha College
A freshers’ reception was held for the students of higher secondary class of the session 2014-2015 at Balugram Adarsha Degree College in Chapainawabganj sadar upazila on Saturday. The freshers were welcomed with sticks of tuberose before other formalities. A discussion meeting was also held on the college premises on the occasion. Presided over by the principal of the college Md. Saidur Rahman the discussion meeting was addressed by principal of Nawabganj Government College Professor Sultana Razia, chief engineer of Rajshahi City Corporation Md. Ashraful Hoque, former senior assistant secretary Mohammad Mahtab Uddin, head teacher of Masud-ul Hoque Institute Nasiul Alam and students Jahangir Alam and Farhana Nazneen.
