Woman killed in Jhenaidah road mishap

A woman was killed on the spot when an easy-bike overturned in to a road side ditch at Kotchandpur of Jhenaidah on Friday afternoon. The deceased was identified as Feroja Khatun0, 50, wife of Yusuf Ali of Shalkona village of Kotchandpur upazila. Locals said, Feroja was marching towards Kotchandpur upazila health complex from her village home on an easy bike. When the three-wheeler arrived near Sabdarpur road, the driver lost control over the vehicle and over turned in to the road side ditch. Locals rescued her and sent to Kotchandpur upazila health complex, while the attending physician declared Feroja dead. Kotchandpur police station officer i charge Biplab Kumar Saha said, they sent an officer to the spot. The body will be sent to Jhenaidah Sadar hospital morgue for post mortem examination, the OC said.
112th anniv of Gafargaon Islamia Govt High School observed

 The 112th founding anniversary of traditional educational institution Gafargaon Islamia Government High School was observed on Thursday at Gafargaon under Mymensingh. On the occasion , a discussion meeting and Doa Mahfil were arranged. Nurul Islam Shikdar ,Heasmaster presided over the discussion meeting . Assistant Headmaster Babu Dilip Kumar Roy, Assistant teacher Abdul Kadir, former teacher Alhaj Mukhlesur Rahman, teacher Abdul Zalil, Konu Mea, the founder member of this school including many teachers of schools and Markaj Madrasa delivered their speeches in the meeting. Later, sweet was distributed among learners, guardians, and teachers. It is mentionable that the distinguished social worker ,educationist Nasir Uddin Khan ,person of this area established this school in 1906. Kaji Halim Uddin, Sabid Ullah Master and Humayun Kabir also assisted this social worker Nasir uddin to establish this school to spread the education for the learners. Besides, these educationists established more educational institutions including Gafargaon Islamia Government High School.
Imported goods seized for revenue fraud

A team of the intelligence men of Benapole customs seized a consignment of goods for importing it on false declaration on Tuesday evening. Sadek Hossain, director, customs intelligence, Benapole said the goods were seized just before delivering those from Benapole warehouse. The intelligence official told that Mohammadi Steel Works of Narayangonj imported the goods on manifest number 33677/11, date 13th July, 2017 by customs clearing and forwarding agent Goni and Sons, Benapole. Examining the consignment it was found that the importer imported a consignment of goods worth Tk 2 crore paying Tk 12 lakh as customs duty instead of the exact duty of Tk 70 lakh, the official said. The official also told that the importer imported 836 kilograms of transformer oil in place of declared 200 kilogram and 25,020 kilograms of grease in place of 50 kilograms of lubricant. Shaukat Hossain, customs commissioner, Benapole told that punitive measures were taken against the C&F agent for tax evasion.
