Body of minor boy recovered from river in Chuadanga
CHUADANGA: Firefighters recovered the body of a minor boy from Mathavanga river in Gangni upazila of Meherpur district yesterday morning. The boy identified as Taufiq Ahmed, 08, was an inhabitant of Amtoil village of Gangni upazila. Family members said Taufiq went out yesterday noon and did not return home. Later, they suspected that he might have drowned in the river after seeing his sandal on the bank of the river and informed Alamdanga firefighters about the matter. The firefighters recovered the body from the river in Nilmoniganj area under Alamdanga upazila of the district around 10am, reports BSS.
Children learning songs at Bhangura

Goon Lalito Kala Academy of Bhangura upazila has become a popular music school in a short time. Here the children are learning regular songs and dancing. There are a total of ten students in two sections of dance and music. Shantona Rani Goon, Music trainer of Goon Lalit Kala Academy said that children are being developed through classical education of dance and music. Suvash Goon, Director of Goon Lalito Kala Academy said Mr Aminul Islam Music Director of BTV. is teaching music here once in a week. Naznin Nahar, head of the Department of Bangla,Haji Jamal Uddin Government College said that she was impressed by the way of teaching in this academy.
BCL men block highway in Jessore

Commuters had to suffer due to a blockade enforced by the ruling party’s student wing Bangladesh Chhatra League at Noorbagh under Nawapara industrial town on Thursday afternoon. Chhatra League men alleged that two police men beat up Partho Protim Sur, vice -president, Nawapara Municipality unit, BCL and activist Mahmud Hasan as they went to Abhaynagar police station on Thursday noon. ‘The BCL men were tortured by the police following a sudden feud,’ they added. The BCL men carried out agitation in protest of the police attack blocking the Jessore- Khulna Highway at Noorbagh from 3:00pm to 3:30pm, locals said. Queues of vehicles with several thousand commuters were seen during and aftermath of the blockade. Anisur Rahman, officer, in-charge, Abhaynagar police station told Newsmen that the police and the BCL men settled the matter mutually. ‘The BCL men blocked the highway for 10 minutes over the exchange of hot talks,’ he added
Firearms, bullets recovered from Benapole
Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB), in a drive, recovered two pistols, 20 bullets and four magazines from Gatipara area of Benapole Bandar Thana here yesterday morning. On a tip-off, a BGB team from Daulatpur camp conducted the raid in the area and recovered the firearms and bullets in an abandoned condition, a BGB official said. Sensing the presence of BGB personnel, the arms and ammunition carriers managed to flee, he said. A case was filed in this connection, reports BSS.
