BRU inks MoU with Pollisree, Dinajpur

Begum Rokeya University, Rangpur and Private Development Organization Pollisree, Dinajpur signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). This agreement was signed at the conference room of Begum Rokeya University administrative building recently. VC of Begum Rokeya University, Rangpur Prof Dr. Nazmul Ahsan Kalimullah, BTFO and acting Executive Director of Pallisree, Dinajpur M Selim Reza signed the agreement on behalf of their own institution. After joining the present Vice Chancellor Professor Nazmul Ahsan Kalimullah, BTFO signed the second contract with Begum Rokeya University. Earlier, on July 8, 2011, the first agreement with Canadian University Bangladesh was signed. Head of the Department of Mass Communication and Journalism Dr. Md. Nazrul Islam presided over the signing ceremony. Administrator of Public Relations, Information and Publications Division of the university and Professor of Bangla Department Dr. Sarifa Salowa Dina, dean of the Faculty of Science Professor Dr. Tajul Islam, Dean of Business Studies Mr. Ferdous Rahman, Head of all departments, coordinator of Oxfam GB Taposh Ranjan Chakraborty, project coordinator Pollisree Dimla unit Puran Chandra Barman were also present. Assistant Professor of Mass Communication and Journalism and assistant director of Public Relations, Information and Publications Division Tabiur Rahman Prodhan hosted the signing ceremony.
Seminar on medical waste management held

Finance Minister AMA Muhith on Saturday spoke of the government stance while talking to the reporters after attending a seminar on ÔMedical Waste ManagementÕ arranged by Sylhet City Corporation at a hotel in Sylhet.Addressing the seminar, AMA Muhith said medical wastes management is related to public health and public awareness is a must in this regard.The minister said the probe report on Bangladesh BankÕs fund heist will not be made public very soon as a case is pending with a court in the Philippines.The minister Talking about the Panama Paper issue, the finance minister said as per the Anti Corruption CommissionÕs report, people whose names have been appeared in the Panama papers will be brought to book. Experts at the seminar presented their opinions and suggested the course of actions for more efficient waste management..
Woman, 6 other held with illegal drugs

Border Guard Bangladesh personnel and the police in two separate raids arrested seven suspected drug peddlers along huge quantities of drugs raiding Benapole land port and Nawapara industrial area, according to press releases issued by the BGB and the police on Sunday night. The BGB men arrested Mamuni Akhter, 26, her brother M Raju, 37 of Baroanchra village under Benapole port police station on Sunday. The BGB men recovered 108 bottles of Phensedyl from their possessions. In another operation, the police led by Golam Rabbani, additional superintendent of police, Jessore arrested five suspected drug peddlers- Shukur Ali, 27, Sohel Rana, 25, Jewel, 30, Jahid, 26 and Masum, 22 raiding the slum along Nawapara Railway Station on Sunday evening. The police recovered 1,000 pieces of Yaba pills, 500 grams of cannabis and 7 bottles of Phenseyl and 4 close circuit cameras during the raid. 200 policemen took part the raid, said Golam Rabbani, additional superintendent of police.
View exchange meeting held

A view exchange meeting and taking oath against learners of Satota Songo was held at Rasulpur High School Auditorium at Gafargaon under Mymensingh recently. Rejaul Mostofa Monto ,Chairman of school managing committee presided over the view exchange meeting. Dr.K.M Ehsan Advocate is the chief guest in the meeting. Rafiqul Basar ,Secretary of Upazila Anti-corruption Committee conducted the meeting. Nirupoma Debonath, vice-president of Upazila Anti-corruption committee , Md.Ajim Uddin Master member of upazila Anti-corruption committee, Sultan Ahmed ,member of upazila Anti-corruption committee delivered their speeches on corruption. Head master Abdur Rouf, senior teacher Prodip Chandra Moduk, Md.Rejaul Mostofa Monto chairman of school managing committee spoke in the meeting. Dr.K.M.Ehsan Adv. administered the taking oath against corruption and urged the people of all walks of life to come forward to remove corruption from the society.
