Tree Fair inaugurated at Rajshahi

Divisional Commissioner Nur-ur-Rahman inaugurated the fruit-bearing tree fair for three days in Rajshahi on Tuesday. Deputy Director of District Agriculture Department Deb Dulal Dhali presided over the function as especial guest Deputy Commissioner Helal Mahmud Sharif were present. District Administration and District Agriculture Extension Department , Paba upazila arranged the programme. The Chief Guest inaugurated the Fair in the City Corporation (Green House) . He also visited the fields of different types of medicinal, fodder and foreign trees in the fair. A tree carries much of the role in human life. He urged all without peasants planting a tree in front of their own house. Government and non-government organizations, school, college, Madrasha and University’s land will be converted to green garden. Deputy Director K J Abdul Awal, Additional Deputy Director Munjurul Haque, Agriculture Officer AKM Munshur Maula, Abu Jafar Mohammad Sadak and officials of the concerned departments were present at the ceremony.
Two maunds of cherry seized at Benapole

Border Guard Bangladesh personnel seized two mounds of cherries from Sadipur frontier under Benapole port police station on Monday morning, Lieutenant Colonel Ariful Hoque, commanding officer, 49 Border Guard Battalion, told. The cherry worth Tk 6 lakh was seized from Sadipur frontier after it was smuggled to Bangladesh on Monday morning, the BGB CO added.
Boy electrocuted in Magura
MAGURA: A boy was electrocuted in Mirzapur village in Sadar upazila on Monday afternoon. Illias Hossain, officer-in-charge of Magura Police Station, said Akash, 10, son of Amir Ali of the village came in contact with a live electric wire while playing in the yard of his house. The boy was rushed to Magura Sadar Hospital where on duty doctor declared him dead. An unnatural death (UD) case was filed in this connection, reports UNB.
Hundi trader held in Jessore
JESSORE: Members of Border Guard Bangladesh arrested a hundi trader along with Tk 6 lakh from Putkhali area of Benapole port on Monday.The arrestee was identified as M Faruk Hossain, 30, son of Mizanur Rahman of Putkhali Bazar Para village in the district.Tipped off, a battalion of BGB-21 Putkhali camp launched a drive at Majid Bari and arrested Faruk along with money, said commanding officer of Putkhali camp Lt Col Md Tarikul Hakim. A case was filed, said officer-in-charge of Benapole Port Police Station Apurba Hassan, reports UNB.
Workshop on children’s growth held in Faridpur
FARIDPUR: A daylong workshop titled “The Responsibility of Teachers to Enhance the Development of Children’s Growth” was held at the ICT conference room of the Deputy Commissioner’s office of the district yesterday. The workshop was organised by Faridpur District Administration. Deputy Commissioner Ummey Salma Tanzia spoke at the workshop as the chief guest.
Deputy Commissioner (DC) said the aim of this workshop is to change the attitude of teachers and students with dignity, honesty and moral education. This programme will help the country ensure a quality education, she added. Presided over by Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Eradul Haque (General) the workshop was coordinated by Additional Deputy Commissioner (Education and ICT) Md Samsul Alam.Assistant Commissioner Nusrat Jahan also projected the theme on child development skill on the occasion.Around 50 teachers including academic head of different schools and institutions of the district participated in the workshop, reports BSS.
