Drug-trafficker with heroin in Kushtia

A team of personnel of Narcotics Control Department of arrested an alleged drug-trafficker with 1 kilograms of heroin worth about Taka 1 crore from Amla market under Mirpurupazila of the district yesterday afternoon. The arrested person was identified as ShahjahanMolla, 25, son of late Motiar Rahman Mollah of village Madhpur in Uzangram union under the Sadar upazila. Acting on a tip-off, a special team of the department conducted a drive in a passenger bus coming towards Kushtia from Meherpur district in the area when a bag was recovered from the bottom of the seat of the bus. The members of the team found the heroin as they opened the bag. Witnessing suspicious movement of theShahjahanMollah, supervisor of the bus the team arrested him and seized the heroin said Mizanur Rahman, the assistant director of the department in the district.
Poura employees demand salary from govt exchequer

Officials and employees of Chapainawabganj Punicipality observed work abstention from 10 am till 1 pm on Monday demanding salary, pension and other facilities from government exchequer. As part of the central programme of the Bangladesh Municipality Officials-Employees Association its Chapainawabganj unit arranged the programme. During the observance of the work abstention programme, they staged a rally on the municipality office premises with the Chapainawabganj district unit president of the association Tariqul Islam in the chair. Among others, executive engineer of the municipality Md. Sadequl Islam, accounts officer Md. Ahsan Habib, secretary of the association Ruhul Amin, town planner Imran Hossain, Rabiul Awal and others spoke on the occasion. The speakers asked the prime minister to pay attention to their demands sothat they can spend life with families in happiness.
